Luke Grimes Reveals Where Things Stand On A “Marshals” & “Dutton Ranch” Crossover

Fans of the Yellowstone Universe have been asking for a Marshals and Dutton Ranch crossover for a long time, and according to Luke Grimes, he’s trying to make it happen.
Grimes recently opened up about his character, Kayce Dutton, possibly reuniting with his sister Beth (played by Kelly Reilly), while discussing Season 2 of Marshals, set to premiere October 4.
Luke Grimes Says A Marshals & Dutton Ranch Crossover Is “Necessary”
Grimes told TV Insider that he agrees with fans that a crossover seems like a no-brainer. The characters may have gone on to their own separate Yellowstone spinoffs, but their history is still a huge part of who they are.
“It’s not out of the question that we might have some sort of crossover at some point,” Grimes said. “Beth’s basically Kayce’s only living family member other than Tate. It would make sense that down the line we’d at least talk.”
Grimes says he and Reilly have talked about an on-screen reunion many times before. She feels just as strongly that bringing Kayce and Beth back together is “necessary for our story arcs, however they’re going to end.”
“I would absolutely imagine that there’ll be some checking in on her brother, and we just didn’t see it this year,” Reilly told the outlet following the “Dutton Ranch” Season 1 finale.
She continued, “I think it’s something that was a missed opportunity, quite honestly. But we’re all both trying to start up these big shows. And I think we can see where there are gaps and we see where things needed to be fixed. And that’s what you get the opportunity to do in a Season 2.”
Fans will see a lot more from both shows as their stories continue. For example, Grimes has hinted that Kayce could find love again at some point.
He told Entertainment Weekly that he thinks Kayce will develop a romantic relationship “slowly and cautiously” after his wife Monica’s death in Season 1.

As for Dutton Ranch, the characters’ futures are a little less clear after the Season 1 finale ended with a shocking death and major cliffhanger.
The show hasn’t started filming yet, so there’s currently no release date. However, it’s been speculated that fans could see the new episodes sometime in early 2027.
One detail that we know so far is that season 2 will have a new person in charge. The show is welcoming Benjamin Cavell as its new showrunner. There’s also been talk that Ed Harris, who plays Everett McKinney, could have a bigger role moving forward.
