Marshals Season 2 will be here soon, and plenty of possibilities are ahead for its beloved characters, including Kayce Dutton, who may even find love again.
The Yellowstone spinoff was renewed for a second season in March after its first season was a huge success. More than 20 million viewers tuned in for the show’s premiere, and after the season wrapped with a huge cliffhanger, fans can barely wait to find out what happens next.
Thankfully, you won’t have to wait much longer, because Season 2 is confirmed to premiere on October 4.
Leading up to the big day, CBS released an official trailer for the new episodes. And just by watching the two-minute clip, we’ve already learned the fate of a few people whose stories were left uncertain in the last episode.

Luke Grimes Talks Marshals Season 2, Teases Possible Love Interest
Marshals leading man Luke Grimes, who plays Kayce Dutton, is just as excited for the Season 2 premiere as everyone else. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he shared what fans can look forward to when the show returns next month.
“Anyone that has seen it says it’s their favorite episode out of all of them so far,” Grimes said about the season 2 premiere.
According to Grimes, Season 2 will dive deeper into the characters’ backstories, so fans will learn more about the personal lives of his fellow U.S. Marshal team members Cal (Logan Marshall-Green), Belle (Arielle Kebbel), Cruz (Ash Santos), and Miles (Tatanka Means).
We’ll also get to see Kayce come out of his shell a bit more than he did in the first season.
“He’s hanging out with everybody a little more. He’s going to the bar a little more,” Grimes revealed, adding that Kayce “starts to get a glimpse of his future and what he’s seeing seems very lonely. He’s gonna have to start seeking community somewhere.”
Another big question Grimes answered was whether Kayce will develop a romantic relationship anytime soon. In Season 1, he lost his wife, Monica, but is he ready to put himself back out there again?
“Yeah, I think so — obviously slowly and cautiously,” Grimes said.
Grimes wants to make sure it’s handled tastefully, though. He doesn’t want Kayce jumping into a new relationship too quickly and risking upsetting viewers who still aren’t over Monica’s death.
“[Showrunner] Spencer [Hudnut] and I have talked about, ‘How we do that in the way that the audience allows it and doesn’t get upset by it,’” he says. “Some time has passed, and I think we have to put Kayce in some situations where you don’t blame him for wanting to open up that way.”
Of course, right now we don’t know who could become Kayce’s love interest in the episodes to come, but it will be nice to see him put himself first for a change.
Don’t miss the Season 2 premiere of Marshals on Sunday, October 4. The show will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+.
