Matthew McConaughey Reveals Where His Rumored “Yellowstone” Spinoff Stands
on

Fans may get a Yellowstone spinoff starring Matthew McConaughey after all.
It’s been a long-running rumor that Matthew McConaughey could star in a new series from Taylor Sheridan. Reports about a possible project between the two have been going on for a while now, however fans haven’t gotten any updates.
With so little information coming out, many have started to assume that the project isn’t actually going to happen.
But according to McConaughey, there is still a chance.
The actor recently addressed the rumors during a conversation with The Playlist.
“It’s not any more of a thing than it was or probably any less of a thing than it was that did hit the headlines there for a while,” McConaughey revealed. “Taylor and I have spoken and have continued to have conversations about what [it could be] and if that would be whatever. But nothing’s real yet.”

It’s still unclear why McConaughey and Sheridan haven’t actually collaborated yet. It seems like everyone is on board for it, and fans are definitely wanting it to happen.
During a 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Sheridan revealed that they’ve been talking about working together for years.
“He seems like a natural fit,” Sheridan told the outlet. “We had a few conversations over the years, and spitballed a few ideas. Then he started watching Yellowstone and responded to it. He was like, ‘I want to do that.’ And by ‘that’ he meant diving into a raw world clashing up against the modern world. And then I said, ‘Buddy, that we can do.’”
McConaughey not only has a good relationship with Sheridan, but he’s also close with one of the Yellowstone universe’s longtime stars.
He and Cole Hauser, who plays Rip Wheeler in Dutton Ranch, are friends in real life, and they’re also creating a new show together.
There’s still not a lot of information out about the untitled project. So far, we know it will be a drama series for Netflix, with McConaughey and Hauser reportedly playing brothers. The story is also expected to have some connection to football.
Taylor Sheridan Has Multiple Shows Coming Out Soon… Will Matthew McConaughey Appear In Any Of Them?
Even though there’s still no word on a series starring McConaughey, there’s always a chance Sheridan could bring him in as a guest character at some point.
And if that’s the plan, Sheridan will have plenty of opportunities, because he has several new shows coming out soon.
One of them is Frisco King, a spinoff to Sheridan’s Tulsa King. There’s still no release date, but it has been confirmed that Happy Days star Scott Baio will make an appearance in the series.
Over the next year, fans can also look forward to Season 2 of Marshals, Season 2 of The Madison, Season 3 of Landman (although filming has been delayed), and Season 4 of Tulsa King.
