‘Landman’ Season 3 Faces Unprecedented Production Delays

Production for Landman has not yet begun, despite filming beginning in May for the past two seasons.
Landman Was Picked Up For A Third Season While Season 2 Was Airing
Just 19 days after Season Two of Landman premiered, the hit show was renewed for a second season.
The show scored monster ratings, especially the finale episode, which bested Season 1’s finale by 70%, according to The Wrap.
Season 3 Has Been Delayed
In February 2026, The Hollywood Reporter‘s Jackie Strause asked co-creator Christian Wallace if they planned on sticking with the same production schedule of beginning in May, with episodes planned for a November premiere.
“Oh definitely,” he replied. “We are a little bit later than we were the last two seasons, but that only matters for us because of the heat in Texas.”
He continued:
“When we get back into production this year, it’s going to be pretty full on, and just getting hotter. That’s the big struggle from a production standpoint for us being on set every day. We have so many exteriors, and that’s a good thing because this show thrives in the dust and the heat and the reality of that gritty, hot world. But it is hard on the crew and cast, and on everybody. Twelve-hour days in 100-plus degree weather is no joke. But that is our cross to bear, not the audiences’. I’m excited about the schedule and I think the rhythm we’re in right now works really well.”
While he did say they were a little later than expected, fans didn’t think they’d be this delayed. It is already August, and filming has not started yet, according to James Jordan, who plays Dale in Landman.
Jordan also stars in Sheridan’s hit show Lioness, so while he was attending the premiere for the Nicole Kidman and Zoe Saldana-led show, he was asked about Landman.

Jordan revealed to Us Weekly, “Taylor is writing as we speak. It’s going to be 10 crazy, wonderful, funny and wild episodes—just like season 1 and season 2 have been. Billy Bob and everybody, we’re all ready to get back to work.”
He also gave fans insight on when filming will begin in Texas:
“We start that sometime in September and we’ll shoot that through the first quarter of next year.”
Because of the shifted schedule, he is not sure when fans can expect to watch it.
“[Once filming wraps] we should have it out… I don’t know when. It’s up to the powers that be,” he said.
Billy Bob Thornton previously said in an interview that filming would start in August, but in Jordan’s latest update, it appears that that date has been pushed back.
The actor also revealed that he has received a Season 3 script from Sheridan and expressed his excitement to begin filming.
“Everybody’s very excited to get back to work. It’s going to be a great time. We’re pumped to get back to the Fort Worth area and shoot season 3.”
