New “Landman” Update Arrives As Fans Await Season 3 Amid Ongoing Delay
on

The first two seasons of Landman both premiered in November. So naturally, fans assumed that the show’s third season would follow suit.
However, as of this month (August 2026), filming still hasn’t started.
James Jordan, who plays Dale, spoke with Us Weekly at the beginning of the month concerning the unprecedented production delay. He told the outlet that he’s under the impression they’ll start work in September and continue filming through the beginning of 2027.
Meanwhile, Jordan said show creator Taylor Sheridan is writing the new episodes “as we speak.” He added:
“It’s going to be 10 crazy, wonderful, funny and wild episodes — just like season 1 and season 2 have been. [Series lead] Billy Bob [Thornton] and everybody, we’re all ready to get back to work.”

Amid the ongoing delay, eager fans awaiting Season 3 of Landman recently received a new update from a Paramount+ executive. Jane Wiseman, the EVP & Head of Originals at Paramount+, told Deadline that Sheridan is writing the next season “right now.”
This confirms what Jordan told Us Weekly earlier in the month.
What Will Happen To Landman Amid Taylor Sheridan’s New Deal With NBCUniversal?
Although Wiseman didn’t touch on a timeline for when fans can expect new episodes of Landman, she did address an overarching question.
Sheridan signed a new deal with NBCUniversal that begins in 2029. Fans wondered whether that would affect any of his current or future series with Paramount+.
Wiseman seemed to confirm that it will not. She said, We have a lot of business, and we’re going to be in business for time to come.” She teased more to come from their partnership, saying:
“We have a couple things that I can’t talk about, but we work very closely with Taylor and David Glasser. We have a really great relationship, and the idea that we have more Madison coming, we have more Landman coming, we have more Dutton [Ranch] coming, and there are a couple things that we’ve been discussing that we would love to get on the service before [2029].”
In addition to Landman, Sheridan also serves as a creative force behind the Paramount+ programs Dutton Ranch, Tulsa King, Lioness, The Madison, and an upcoming series, Frisco King. He also created Mayor of Kingstown, which is ending after its fifth season.
There have been rumors of other Yellowstone follow-ups, including another prequel series tentatively titled 1944 and a spin-off about the 6666 ranch. However, things don’t look promising for the latter series, with actor Jefferson White (Jimmy from Yellowstone) saying he’s unaware of any plans to make it happen.
Stay tuned for future updates on 6666, Season 3 of Landman, and other Taylor Sheridan shows. In the meantime, enjoy some of James Jordan’s best moments as Dale in the compilation video below.
