For years, there has been talk of a 6666 show entering the Yellowstone universe. But plans to make it happen appear to have stalled.

Word of a 6666 spin-off, centered on the legendary 6666 (Four Sixes) ranch in Texas, has been circulating since 2021. The idea wasn’t far-fetched, as Yellowstone referenced (and visited) Four Sixes, and show creator Taylor Sheridan is part of the group of investors who own the ranch in real life.

Variety published a report on 6666 in 2022, which included an official synopsis. It read:

“Founded when Comanches still ruled West Texas, no ranch in America is more steeped in the history of the West than the 6666. Still operating as it did two centuries before, and encompassing an entire county, the 6666 has inspired a new scripted series where the rule of law and the laws of nature merge in a place where the most dangerous thing one does is the next thing. The 6666 is synonymous with the merciless endeavor to raise the finest horses and livestock in the world, and ultimately where world-class cowboys are born and made.”

However, by 2023, the Four Sixes series was “on hold.” During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that year, Sheridan explained why it was taking so long to bring the show to life.

That, for a number of reasons, needs a unique level of special care because this is a real place with real families working here. You have to respect the lineage. I’ve told [the studio] to be patient.

Yellowstone ended in 2024, and Sheridan has remained busy working on other spin-offs and shows, including Lioness, Tulsa King, and Landman.

Now, the fate of 6666 seems even shakier as Sheridan plans to end his longtime relationship with Paramount to strike a new deal with NBCUniversal. His current deal still lasts for a few years, so fans don’t need to worry about already established series.

Is The Yellowstone Spin-Off 6666 Still Happening? – The Actor Who Played Jimmy Shares What He Knows

In 2026, we’ve watched the Yellowstone universe expand with the addition of two new spin-offs, Dutton Ranch and Marshals. Both had wildly successful first seasons and have been renewed for another.

But what about the 6666 show? Jefferson White, who played Jimmy on Yellowstone, was rumored to be one of the main characters on the spin-off. So you’d think if anyone knows anything about the show, he would be in the loop.

Unfortunately, White didn’t have any promising things to say about 6666 when it came up during an interview with the Daily Mail in December 2025.

“‘Not that I know of now…” White said when asked if he’d be appearing in another show in the Yellowstone universe. “I kept my fingers crossed, but also, I’d be grateful if I got to do more and I’m grateful for what I got to do. I don’t want to be selfish. We got a lot of great mileage out of that show.‘”

It would be great if 6666 finally comes to fruition one day. But based on what White said and the lack of further updates on the show’s status, it seems likely that it’s been shelved indefinitely

We would love to be proven wrong, though!

What About The Show 1944? Is It Still In The Works?

There’s yet another Yellowstone series that’s been in limbo for a while.

So far, two prequels sharing the Dutton family’s origin story have been released. Those include 1883 (which starred country singers Tim McGraw and Faith Hill) and 1923. The first series lasted for a single season, while 1923 had two.

For some time now, fans have been hearing about another prequel series, titled 1944. After 1923 ended in 2025, actress Michelle Randolph (who played Elizabeth Dutton) shared her hopes for the next installment, saying, “If I could be in 1944, I would absolutely love that. I have no idea where the storyline picks up or who it follows. I don’t know anything about it.

Unlike 6666, we have received a recent update on the status of 1944. Journalist Matt Webb Mitovich reported on June 17, 2026, that he has been “assured” that the series is still in development.

We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed!
