Two new Yellowstone spin-offs premiered this year, and now, we know which one reigns supreme in the ratings race. Is it Marshals or Dutton Ranch?

Marshals premiered first, on March 1. It aired on Sunday nights on CBS, and its first season concluded with a cliffhanger finale on May 24. The series, which follows Kayce Dutton in his new job as a member of an elite team of U.S. Marshals, has already been renewed for a second season, and production on that season is underway.

Dutton Ranch had a two-episode debut on May 21. It releases new episodes every Friday on the Paramount+ streaming service. The series follows Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler as they start a new ranch in Texas, where they face heartbreaking challenges and intimidating enemies.

So which series has more viewers? TVInsider listed all of the data that answers that question.

Both shows broke records with their premieres. Marshals‘ premiere attracted 9.52 million viewers, making it the most-watched new scripted series premiere in eight years (without a football lead-in). Adding streaming numbers, the premiere’s total viewership skyrocketed to 20 million.

Dutton Ranch‘s premiere generated 12.9 million views in its first seven days. It shattered the record for the most-watched original series premiere on Paramount+.

With 20 million views vs. 12.9 million, there’s a clear winner in the race between the spin-offs…and it’s Marshals.

As TV Insider notes, Marshals‘ presence on CBS may significantly boost its viewership. The channel is the most-watched broadcast network on TV.
