Morgan Wallen Appears In Rapper Drake’s New Music Video
on Dec 21, 2023
There have been plenty of unlikely duos over the years, but this collaboration between country singer Morgan Wallen and rapper Drake might just take the cake.
In the past 20-or-so years, rap has been making its way into country music – and vice versa. One of the first notable rap-country collaborations was Tim McGraw and Nelly with the 2004 song “Over and Over,” which ended up going number one on nine different Billboard charts.
Nelly continued to dip his toes into the country music world and was included on the remix of the 2013 song “Cruise” with Florida Georgia Line, which became the best-selling country song of all time. It stayed at the number one spot on the country chart for 24 straight weeks, setting a record for longest number one at the time.
Fast forward ten years, rapper Drake is enlisting the help of Morgan Wallen.
On November 17, 2023, Drake released a reissue of eighth studio album, For All the Dogs Scary House Edition. It is a continuation of his EPs Scary Hours (released in 2018) and Scary Hours 2 (released in 2021). This release came only six weeks after is album For All the Dogs, and has been referred to as Scary Hours 3 by fans and critics alike.
“You Broke My Heart” is one of the songs on this new album and was written by Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Graham, Anderson Hernandez, Mulé, De Boni, Alexander Morand, Kenny Thomas, and Frank Wilson.
On December 20, Drake released his music video for “You Broke My Heart.”
The video begins with Wallen and Drake out for dinner and drinks as the rapper is coping with a breakup.
“I’ll tell you something,” Wallen says, “I didn’t like her.”
“I know,” Drake replies.
The country superstar continues to show off his acting chops, by helping his buddy deal with his recent heartbreak.
“I think she might have been the wrong girl anyway,” he tells Drake, before they cheers and agree to see what else is out there. The two decide to get back out there and hit the town.
Wallen’s appearance in the video ends there, as dancers Grace Matthews and Taylor Morris take over the video by blowing up the car Drake and Wallen go into. They definitely have a fiery approach to dealing with a breakup!
