The annual Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) were broadcast last night (Nov 19) and performances and award presentations were hosted at various distinctive locations across the country. The award show is unique as winners are selected by their performance on the Billboard Charts. Nominees are based on key interactions with music fans, as well as album and digital song sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring, and social engagement.
The BBMAs celebrate music from across all genres, and this year, the representation of country music artists in the mix was strong. George Strait, Jason Aldean, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Luke Combs, Morgan Wallen, Oliver Anthony Music, Zach Bryan, and more received nods from the annual awards show.
The top-winning artist of the 2023 BBMAs was Morgan Wallen! With 11 wins (out of his 15 nominations), he took the lead from mega-superstar Taylor Swift, who ended the night with 10 wins.
Morgan Wallen took home the following awards:
Congrats Morgan! This is by far the most success Wallen has had at the BBMAs so far in his career. He was last nominated in 2021 and took home three awards that year. After receiving the impressive 11 trophies, Wallen said:
“The last awards show we went to, we went home empty-handed. And this one, I don’t have enough hands for them all. Either way, I promise I’m gonna stay the same regardless if we come home with ten or zero. I’m gonna give y’all my all every single night, every single time I go into the studio, so thank you.”
Morgan Wallen performed his latest single “98 Braves” from the very home of the Atlanta Braves: Truist Park in Georgia. The home run performance was broadcast as a part of the Billboard Music Awards ceremony. See the video below!
