NASCAR Hall Of Fame Class Of 2027 Unveiled – One Name Is Missing
on May 20, 2026

Three legendary drivers will soon be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
On Tuesday, May 19th, the NASCAR Hall of Fame voting panel, consisting of 50 members, met in Charlotte for an in-person, closed session. Here, they determined which of the 15 nominees would be chosen as the Class of 2027.
The panel consists of current Hall of Fame members, track owners, media members, and manufacturer representatives. Additionally, fans were given a single collective vote through NASCAR.com.
The Hall of Fame opened in 2010 and honors the history and heritage of NASCAR. Inductees are selected in either of two categories: Modern Era and Pioneer Era. This year, three total drivers were chosen for induction.

Class Of 2027 Confirmed
Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton, and Larry Phillips will officially be enshrined in the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Modern Era: Kevin Harvick – Considered one of the most successful drivers in modern-day NASCAR, Harvick has won 60 NASCAR Cup Series races over a 23-year Cup Series career. Known as “The Closer,” he has built a reputation for late-race comebacks and consistency under pressure.
Modern Era: Jeff Burton – Over the course of his career, Burton earned 21 Cup victories, including major wins at tracks like Darlington, Charlotte, and New Hampshire. In 1999, he won six Cup races and finished fifth in the championship standings, solidifying himself as one of the most respected drivers of the 90s and early 2000s.
Pioneer Era: Larry Phillips – Although he never became a full-time NASCAR Cup Series driver, Phillips is widely regarded as one of the greatest short-track racers in NASCAR history. He won a record five NASCAR Weekly Series national championships, and earned an estimated 1,000 to 2,500 career race victories across dirt and asphalt tracks.
The induction ceremony will take place on Friday, January 22, 2027, at the NASCAR Hall of Fame and Charlotte Convention Center.
Greg Biffle Not Chosen For The Hall Of Fame
Many fans and industry professionals hoped to see the late Greg Biffle chosen for the Hall of Fame. Biffle and his family were tragically killed in a plane crash on December 18th, 2025.
According to the results shared by NASCAR, Biffle received the fifth-highest amount of votes for the Modern Era. He was also the pick of the collective fan vote.
Newly announced inductee Jeff Burton told reporters Tuesday:
“Look, Greg Biffle was also a Roush driver and teammate. We had a lot of good times together. And we won a lot of races: O’Reilly and Truck championships. He definitely deserves to be in the Hall of Fame at some point. When that is, that’s not for me to decide.”
Biffle will likely be nominated again in the future years. Burton added:
“It’s horrible that we lost Greg and everybody who was on that airplane. What a devastating moment. And for those who are left behind, seeing him in the Hall would mean a lot.”
