Reba McEntire Remembers Her Dear Friend Dolly Parton

Country music icons Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton shared a special friendship that spanned nearly five decades before Dolly’s passing in August. The two first met at the Grand Ole Opry in 1977 and remained close friends throughout their careers.

Over the years, the two supported one another through significant milestones, both personally and professionally. In 2005, Dolly even made a guest appearance on Reba’s hit sitcom, Reba, playing a character named Dolly Majors.

Shortly after Dolly’s death, Reba took to social media to share a beautiful tribute in her friend’s honor.

And Reba recently revealed that the Dolly fans saw onstage and on screen was the same exact woman she knew and loved in real life.

During an interview on the Jennifer Hudson Show, Reba said that one of her favorite things about her late friend was how she carried herself, no matter who she was with.

“When she came out to California and did the Reba TV show with me for a week, she treated everyone equally,” Reba shared

Reba also reflected on the day Dolly passed away, recalling that she was on the set of Happy’s Place when colleagues offered their condolences.

“And everybody was like, ‘Reba, we’re so sorry.’ I said, ‘Don’t say you’re sorry, this gal’s going on. She knows where she’s going. It’s a huge celebration.’ But I felt her with me the whole day,” Reba added.

Tonight, Reba and several other country music stars will come together to celebrate the late icon’s life and music during the CMA’s special tribute to Dolly Parton. Find out everything you need to know about the tribute here.
