Season 3 of the Reba McEntire-led sitcom, Happy’s Place, premiered on Friday, October 23. In addition to Reba, the show stars Melissa Peterman, Belissa Escobedo, Tokala Black Elk, Pablo Castelblanco, and Reba’s real-life fiancé, Rex Linn.

As Reba shared during an interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, they were filming Happy’s Place when they learned that Dolly Parton had died. Reba and Dolly had been friends for decades, so the news hit her extra hard.

“And everybody was like, ‘Reba, we’re so sorry,'” she recalled. “I said, ‘Don’t say you’re sorry, this gal’s going on. She knows where she’s going. It’s a huge celebration.’ But I felt her with me the whole day.”

Now, an upcoming episode of Happy’s Place will include a brief tribute to Dolly. Reba shared all of the details during a recent interview with USA Today.

The show’s next episode, airing on Friday, October 30, will end with a photo of Dolly and Reba together. Text accompanying the picture will read, “We will always love you.”

Reba shared that the photo chosen for the dedication was taken when she and Dolly remade “Does He Love You” in 2021. The song was originally released as a duet between Reba and Linda Davis in 1993.

Beyond The Upcoming Happy’s Place Tribute, Reba Has Honored Dolly Several Times Since Her Death

As one of Dolly Parton’s closest friends in the music business, Reba McEntire has led the charge in paying tribute to her several times since her death.

On September 14, Reba honored Dolly by singing a heart-tugging rendition of “Appalachian Memories” at the Emmy Awards. While reflecting on that performance, Reba told USA Today:

“I felt Dolly with me on the stage. I really did. I wasn’t nervous, even though I knew it was going to be a very heavy, touching moment.”

Additionally, Reba was part of the lineup for the star-studded Dolly Parton tribute special on October 21. Hosted by the CMA, the program also featured Vince Gill, Carrie Underwood, Zac Brown, Ella Langley, Lainey Wilson, and more.

Although the event had no true “host,” Reba appeared early in the program to deliver an opening monologue of sorts. She got emotional as she spoke about the type of person Dolly was and how much she meant to the world.

Later on, Reba took to the stage to deliver a powerful rendition of “He’s Alive” in Dolly’s honor. You can watch that performance below if you missed it when it aired. And if you saw it before, then you know it’s worth watching again.

It’s clear that Reba will always cherish the friendship she and Dolly shared…
