At 38 years old, Riley Green is at the top of his game as an artist and entertainer.

He’s got a new album out, titled That’s Just Me; he’s selling out shows on tour; he acted in the Taylor Sheridan series Marshals; and he’s presently a judge on NBC’s The Voice.

But there’s still something that he doesn’t have: a girlfriend.

In a new interview with People, the country artist shared what a great date would look like to him, and he also revealed one of his greatest past romantic gestures.

Of course, he also did a photoshoot on his farm…

Riley Green Opens Up About Romance And What He Finds Attractive

On Friday, Oct. 30, People released its “Sexiest Man Alive 2026” interview with Riley Green.

Here, the country artist is simply spotlighted for his overall heartthrob energy, losing out on the official title of “Sexiest Man Alive” to Noah Wyle, of The Pitt.

Regardless, Green shared about his love life during his interview, telling People about one of his attempts at a grand romantic gesture.

“I remember around one Valentine’s Day, I bought one of those real old army-looking tents, the white canvas tents, and there’s this real pretty spot at my farm up above the lake,” Green started, noting he set up a campfire and hung string lights to create the perfect romantic atmosphere. “I had to do [the prep] while the girl was there. So I was constantly like, ‘Let me go check on the animals,’ and I’d run up there and put one pole up.”

Saying it was “a little surprise thing,” Green added, “I thought that was pretty romantic. I don’t know how she felt about it.”

With a laugh, Green admitted, “… It didn’t go that well. I mean, here we are.”

This story, in a way, seems to contradict a previous statement he made that he didn’t recall ever having a Valentine, telling ABC News Radio earlier this year, “I don’t know that I’ve celebrated a Valentine’s Day with a girl.”

Still, Green’s hopes of being in a relationship seem very sincere.

Asked in a very direct question if he hoped to have children someday, Green said that he did, and he proceeded to connect that notion to how much joy he has in his life thanks to his nephew, saying, “If I like my son near as much as I like my nephew, Joe, I think we’ll get along great.”

However, Green said that his work keeps him away from home more than 200 days each year at this point, noting that he hasn’t seen his dog, Carl, in a month.

Sharing a very personal and real concern, Green said a fragment of a vulnerable thought, saying, “I struggle to think there’s a girl that’s… I can barely make this lifestyle work!”

He went on to say:

“So my lifestyle has just got to change a little bit. I think that what gets me by now, without having those things that I’m hoping for, is I get to FaceTime my nephew and see what he’s doing and watch him play sports and catch up with my family. We’re all still really close. They make it bearable in a pretty hectic lifestyle right now.”

To get to that point, he’s going to need to go on some dates.

Responding to People asking what his “ideal date” looks like, Green said he’s “a big movie guy,” adding, “If I could find a drive-in, wouldn’t that be cool? I’m sure they still have them. Maybe a steak somewhere and a drive-in to watch an old movie.”

While he merely said he “can handle” rom-coms, Green thanked his sisters for his knowledge of the genre, stating, “I like all the Matthew McConaughey, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days kind of stuff. The Wedding Planner, The Wedding Date, My Best Friend’s Wedding, all that.”

But who could he enjoy this movie date with?

For Green, finding someone who is “passionate about something” is key to what he finds “sexy.”

Expounding on that, he said, “I think there’s something attractive about somebody that has a thing that they like and they’re passionate about it. And to me, it’s interesting to hear about those things from somebody else.”
