Every year, people debate how soon is too soon to start talking about Christmas. In Scotty McCreery‘s case, he felt like now was the perfect time!

While millions of people were preparing their Halloween costumes, McCreery was gearing up to release new Christmas music. He joked about his eagerness to welcome the holiday season:

“Couldn’t even make it past Halloween without releasing Christmas music,” he shared in the caption of an Instagram video.

McCreery released his brand-new holiday song, “King Size Bed,” on Friday, October 30.

A press release describes “King Size Bed” as a “string-filled ballad centered around the Nativity.” It was co-written by McCreery, Brent Anderson, Jeremy Bussey, Monty Criswell, Derek George, Bobby Hamrick, and Frank Rogers.

McCreery shared how much the song means to him, saying:

“I love Christmas music and sing it all year long. With ‘King Size Bed,’ I wanted to celebrate the true reason for the season– the birth of Jesus Christ.”

We’d say McCreery fulfilled his mission. “King Size Bed” opens with the gentle, dazzling sound of an acoustic guitar before he begins singing.

His voice flows through the lyrics, which beautifully relay the Nativity story:

“Oh, how the angels sang,

Oh, how the whole world changed,

Oh, God blessed the day,

A little baby Savior turned a tiny manger,

Into a king size bed.”

Scotty McCreery Released An Entire Album Of Christmas Music In 2012

The second album that McCreery ever released was his first (and so far, only) Christmas album. Christmas With Scotty McCreery reached the 2nd spot on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart following its release in 2012.

The album featured 11 songs in total, including two original tunes, “Christmas In Heaven” and “Christmas Comin’ Round Again.” McCreery filled the rest of the tracklist with holiday classics such as “O Holy Night,” “Winter Wonderland,” and “Holly Jolly Christmas.”

He performed the latter song on the CMA’s Country Christmas special in 2022, and it was a highlight of the program.

The CMA already shared the lineup for this year’s Country Christmas program, which sadly, doesn’t include McCreery. But those who want to watch him sing “King Size Bed” may get the chance when he performs at one of Nashville’s newest venues, The Truth, on December 3. You can purchase tickets to the concert on McCreery’s official website.

In the meantime, head to the video below to revisit his “Holly Jolly Christmas” performance from the 2022 Country Christmas broadcast.
