THE VOICE: Coach Predicts Utah Dad Could “Take The Whole Thing” After Earning 4-Chair Turn

Within seconds of hearing Cade Mower’s voice, all four The Voice coaches turned their red chairs.
Utah dad, Cade Mower, set the bar high with his cover of Zach Bryan’s “Something In The Orange” on The Voice.
Three days before Monday’s (Sept. 28) The Voice episode aired, a teaser of Mower’s performance was shared on YouTube and quickly garnered more than 3 million views!
But viewers didn’t find out until the episode aired whether Kelly Clarkson, Riley Green, Queen Latifah, or Adam Levine landed the 35-year-old on their team.

Following Cade’s performance, the coaches took turns trying to convince the singer to join their teams. Adam boasted about past wins and unlikely pairings, while Queen Latifah argued that if Cade chose her as his coach, they would make the most unlikely pairing. She also made a bold prediction.
“You can take this whole thing,” Queen said. “You can definitely take this whole thing. You owned that stage.”
Riley Green bonded with Cade over their matching mustaches and love for songwriting.
“You’re a lyric-driven guy. This is The Voice. A lot of people are looking for people who don’t miss a note or sing the right key, and I know that the lyrics make a song,” Riley said. “I think I’m a testament quite a bit to having the career that I’ve got without being a blow-you-away vocalist.”
Kelly dug into Cade’s life a little more and learned that he is “a finance guy” as well as a father and a husband.
She tried to persuade Cade to choose her based on the fact that she has won with country artists and artists from other backgrounds. She also has experience “navigating a competition.”
“I think it is about strategy, about knowing when to use certain things about your voice that are going to draw people in, to excite them the next week with something else. Maybe throw in a different genre, but keep you, the core essential you as an artist,” Kelly said.
In the end, Cade Mower chose to join Team Riley, adding yet another powerhouse country artist to Riley’s roster.
