Two ‘Voice’ Coaches Attempt To Steal Singer After “Breathtakingly Beautiful” ‘Girl Crush’ Showdown

The first night of The Voice Battles ended with two coaches fighting over a contestant.
After six episodes of Blind Auditions that left all four The Voice coaches with 12 artists each, the eliminations are coming fast and furious. The Season 30 Battle Rounds kicked off Monday night (Oct. 12), leaving each coach with the dreaded task of sending team members home.
But not all hope is lost for singers who don’t win their Battle. Each coach has the opportunity to steal one rejected singer and carry them through to the first-ever Cut Week. One singer on Monday night had two coaches fighting for her after a rare double steal.
Kayleigh Matthews and Lillie Kolich went head-to-head in a Battle performance of Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush.”
The Team Queen Latifah singers both earned 4-chair turns during their Blind Audition, making their Battle one of the best and most intense of the night.
“I’ve heard this song done a lot, y’all. That was my favorite,” Kelly Clarkson told the pair, calling their performance “breathtakingly beautiful.”
The other coaches agreed and told their coach that they didn’t envy her having to choose between Lillie and Kayleigh. Ultimately, Queen Latifah chose to move forward in the competition with Lillie Kolich.

As soon as host Carson Daly reminded the coaches that Kayleigh was available for a Steal, Kelly Clarkson pushed her button, followed by Riley Green. Each coach pleaded their case for why Kayleigh should join their team.
The episode ended in a cliffhanger. Viewers will have to tune in Tuesday night to find out which team Kayleigh chose to join.
