Tulsi Gabbard Declassifies Files Exposing COVID Cover-Up As Her Final Act As DNI
on Jun 19, 2026 • Updated Jun 19, 2026

“It’s time you know the truth,” said DNI Tulsi Gabbard in a video statement released in the evening of Thursday, June 18.
Released hours before her resignation went into effect, she stated:
“Today, on my final day as Director of National Intelligence, I am releasing never-before-seen communications and documents that expose exactly how [Dr. Anthony] Fauci worked with politicized career leadership in the intelligence community to suppress the truth about his actions.”
Gabbard announced last month that she would be resigning from her position as DNI in the Trump administration following her husband’s diagnosis with a rare form of bone cancer.
Releasing documents and communications from Dr. Anthony Fauci, Gabbard is implicating Fauci for his role in the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that this release exposes “Fauci’s direct role in influencing and manipulating [Intelligence Community] assessments on COVID-19,” adding that it also illustrates “how Fauci lied to Congress in 2024.”
Responding to the release of the files, HHS Sec. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “Thank you, Tulsi, for documenting Dr. Fauci’s central role in causing the COVID-19 pandemic — among the most consequential crimes in human history.”
Elon Musk, SpaceX CEO and former Special Government Employee over the Department of Government Efficiency (or DOGE), posted on X, “Fauci committed so many evil crimes.”
Sen. Rand Paul, R-KY, responded to the release of the files, writing on X, “On her way out, [Gabbard] dropped bombshell documents proving Dr. Fauci colluded with a politicized intel community to bury the lab-leak truth and lie to Congress.”
Paul added, “I’ve referred him to the DOJ multiple times for prosecution. The evidence keeps mounting, but more will be coming soon.”

“Dr. Fauci’s close relationships with the Intelligence Community enabled him to assume three key roles that shield him from scrutiny,” Gabbard detailed in her final video statement as DNI.
Back in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic began to affect the United States and much of the world, President Trump was in what would become the final year of his first term in office.
Trusted to advise the president and the nation regarding COVID-19 was Dr. Anthony Fauci, who was director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Gabbard’s release of these newly declassified documents is in keeping with President Trump’s “maximum transparency” initiative, and it affirms that COVID leaked from a lab in Wuhan, China.
Now, with the release of these documents on June 18, Gabbard claims, first, that “Dr. Fauci funded dangerous gain-of-function and coronavirus research linked to Big Pharma and their pursuit of universal vaccines worth trillions of dollars.”
She goes on to cite — as her second point — Dr. Fauci’s role as “the behind-the-scenes advisor,” along with his associates, in promoting the lie that there was “a natural animal origin” to COVID-19, allowing him to hide his taxpayer-funded dangerous gain-of-function research.
Lastly, Gabbard’s third point against Dr. Fauci looks to his influence of the public, with Gabbard saying, “[He] became the nation’s pandemic pundit, and he publicly pushed lies, disinformation, and censorship using every platform available.”
Included in the release of the files are hundreds of emails that were utilized by the Intelligence Community to further Dr. Fauci’s cover-up of the origins of COVID-19.
She also looks to Dr. Fauci’s testimony under oath in 2024 before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, saying that he “blatantly lied to Congress” when he denied that “he ever spoke to any Intelligence agency about COVID.”
Turning to the documents released on June 18, Gabbard says, “The correspondence I am releasing today directly contradicts his sworn testimony.”

Tulsi Gabbard’s Legacy And Next Steps At DNI
On her way out, Gabbard — who has long been seen as a free-agent in the current political climate, having run for president as a Democrat in 2020 before becoming vilified by former Sec. of State Hillary Clinton and switching parties to become an Independent — is leaving a memorable mark.
Even as she switched her party affiliation again to become a Republican, her acceptance into President Donald Trump‘s successful reelection bid in 2024, alongside fellow Independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr., helped broaden Trump’s coalition, positioning him as a political entity not entirely bound to Republican ideals.
As of June 19, Bill Pulte is serving as acting Director of National Intelligence, with Manhattan U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton nominated by Trump to take the role permanently, upon confirmation from Congress.
