UFC Fight To Take Place On White House Lawn

In August 2025, Dana White, president of the UFC and a known friend of Donald Trump, first confirmed that the organization was planning a mixed martial arts event for the first time in history on the White House lawn.

It was later announced that the fight would indeed take place on Sunday, June 14th as part of America’s 250th celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. That day, which is observed annually as Flag Day, will also mark Trump‘s 80th birthday.

Preparations for the fight have been taking place for weeks now. You can see the setup for the fight, located on the South Lawn of the White House, which features “the Claw,” below.

Sec. of State Marco Rubio hosted the UFC CEO at the White House on June 12 for a special signing ceremony.

“The White House is the people’s house. It belongs to the people of the United States. The America250 celebration belongs to the people of the United States, and there are millions and millions of Americans from all walks of life that are not necessarily attuned to politics or the financial markets, or anything else, but they love this sport,” Rubio said. “For them to be able to see this event with their White House in the background, as part of our celebration as a country and our 250 years, I think, is a gift to the American people. That’s what Sunday is about.”

While many fans have been excited for the upcoming fight, one lawsuit aimed to stop the event altogether. On June 6, a Vietnam veteran and a political activist sued the Trump administration’s Department of the Interior and National Park Service in federal court in Washington, D.C.

In the lawsuit, the plaintiffs requested that the event be barred from occurring on the grounds of the White House. Weather in the region has also posed a threat, as thunderstorms were potentially forecasted.

The lawsuit was later rejected, and White has assured fans that the event will carry on.

“Listen, the show goes on on Sunday. No matter what happens we’re going,” White said during Friday’s press conference. “I don’t care if it rains, snows, whatever happens. We have a fight on Sunday.”

He also addressed the weather threat, saying:

“I’m sick and tired of hearing about the weather now and all the other bull**** surrounding this event. We are fighting on Sunday night on the White House lawn. No matter what!”
