Taylor Sheridan’s New Series Landman Has Taken The World By Storm

The show released its season finale on Sunday, January 12, and answered questions like who would get kidnapped and whether Monty survived Episode 9.

However, it also left the audience with many new and unanswered questions.

Let’s see where our characters left off at the end of Season 1 and what that could mean for them in Season 2.

Tommy Norris

Tommy Norris left off Season 1 beat up after being kidnapped and tortured.

During the final episode of Landman, Tommy gets kidnapped by the drug cartel. While he was kidnapped, the drug cartel tortured him as they were upset because one of their trucks containing drugs was blown up.

Tommy is rescued by a new character named Gallino, played by Andy Garcia, who you might know from Ocean’s 11 or The Godfather.

Gallino is a sophisticated drug cartel boss who portrays himself as more of a businessman.

In the final episode, he enters the room where Tommy is being held captive and kills everyone present.

After rescuing Tommy, he sits down with him and expresses a desire to be “friends.” This implies that Gallino will play a significant role in Season 2, but it also suggests that he will create further challenges for Tommy to confront.

Besides his issues with the drug cartel, Tommy has started a risky oil venture and has been made president of the oil company, as Monty is still on the brink of life and death.

Tommy’s relationship with his ex-wife, Angela, has never been stronger. He maintains connections with everyone in his family, although he might lose his friend and boss, Monty Miller, in Season 2.

However, he is supported by Nathan, his lawyer, and his employee, Dale Bradley, as he takes on the president’s chair and prepares for the challenges that Season 2 will bring.

Angela

Throughout the course of Season 1, Angela is portrayed as a vapid and rather manipulative character.

It is clear that she loves Tommy and desires to be connected to her family. Yet she does not know how to do that and spends most of her time pursuing fun and finding new ways to party.

As the season progressed, Angela began to help out at the old folks’ home. This marked the beginning of an interesting character arc for her, characterized by selfless behavior.

This development has the potential to make her a more likable and relatable character in Season 2.

By the end of Season 1, she has grown closer to Tommy and strengthened her bond with her daughter, Ainsley, but her relationship with her son, Cooper, remains unresolved.

It can be assumed that she will continue her role at the old folks home in Season 2.

Ainsley Norris & Ryder

Ainsley Norris and her new boyfriend Ryder got very cozy at the end of Season 1. This insinuates that this new quarterback is not going anywhere. Fans can most likely expect them to continue their budding romance in Season 2.

Besides her new connection and spending time reconnecting with her father, Tommy, and the rest of her family, Ainsley’s character can be perceived as rather one-dimensional. She follows in her mother’s footsteps by using men to get what she wants.

However, there is a moment of vulnerability at the end of Season 1. She spends the night with her boyfriend and finally gets the level of intimacy that she has craved throughout the season.

Cooper Norris & Ariana

Cooper Norris and Ariana have faced many troubles as a couple throughout the course of Season 1.

Their community had issues with them getting together because Ariana’s husband had recently passed.

Despite this, Ariana shared that she had chosen Cooper and had no plans to let him go. Cooper shared her sentiment, and the couple had a beautiful moment to end the season.

However, Ariana is still mourning her husband’s death and trying to decide what the future holds for her.

Cooper is planning to build an empire and become a “landman” himself.

In the final episode of Season 1, Cooper secures his first lease signature as part of his ambitious plan to consolidate several small oil drilling rigs and land parcels. By bringing these together, he aims to enhance their value and ultimately generate a profit.

Season 2 will show the fulfillment or the failure of Cooper’s new business venture. It will also most likely follow the deepening connection between Cooper and Ariana.

Monty Miller

Monty Miller ended Season 1 unconscious in the hospital.

The character is in a tough position having had five heart attacks throughout the course of his life and now needing a heart transplant. The doctors are optimistic that if he is able to pull through for a couple of weeks until he can get a heart transplant, then he might be able to survive.

However, Tommy is unsure about the likelihood of his survival.

With Monty potentially absent in Season 2, Cami Miller is likely to fill the gap. Already in partnership with Tommy, she has chosen to take a risk by investing in an oil venture instead of opting for the safer route of selling the company.

Only Season 2 will reveal whether Monty survives and what fate awaits Cami in the oil industry.

Nathan & Rebecca Falcone

Landman follows the daily life of Tommy Norris as an oil man’s fixer. Part of that daily life is the lawyers with whom he works closely.

The two lawyers are Rebecca Falcone and Nathan. The power dynamic between Nathan and Rebecca is still in question as to who will lead the charge in the oil company.

Rebecca is new to the scene and still has qualms about the morality of fracking. She has gotten the company big wins, but she has also threatened Tommy’s family when she didn’t get her way.

Her and Tommy’s relationship is bound to unfold in the coming Season 2.

Nathan’s pride was hurt in the last season as Rebecca took center stage.

Only Season 2 will reveal whether Nathan gets his leading role at the company back or if Rebecca Falcone will take over.
