Jelly Roll And Brandon Lake Are Taking Their “Hard Fought Hallelujah” To The Global Stage

Brandon Lake released his “Hard Fought Hallelujah” collaboration with Jelly Roll in February 2025. Although the worship singer initially released the song in 2024.

He later chose to add an artist whose story fit the moving single.

In a KLOVE interview, Lake shared,

“I wanted to share this song with somebody that had a really beautiful and hard-fought story, and the first person that came to mind was Jelly.”

Jelly Roll’s story is a powerful narrative of redemption; he was incarcerated as a teenager for selling drugs and later charged with armed robbery. Now he is one of the world’s largest and most influential artists.

Jelly Roll stands as a symbol of a transformed life.

He expressed his honor in collaborating with Brandon Lake on the single, saying,

“I’m honored that I was the call. I’m a Brandon Lake fan… What he’s doing for Christian music, even outside of Christian music — he’s taking it further than I’ve seen anybody take it in a long time.

The duo has showcased their song on numerous global platforms, including the Grand Ole Opry and American Idol.

Jelly Roll And Brandon Lake Bring Stagecoach To Church

Their latest performance was at Stagecoach, the renowned country music festival held in Indio, California, from April 25th to April 27th this year, with the festival typically occurring in late April.

Stagecoach spotlights some of the biggest names in country music, with headliners this year including Zach Bryan, Jelly Roll, and Luke Combs. There were also surprise performances by Mumford and Sons, in addition to supporting acts such as Brothers Osborne, Lana Del Rey, Sturgill Simpson, Nelly, Midland, and many more.

This year, Jelly Roll headlines and brought out guests to join him on stage. His guests included MGK, Lana Del Rey, and Brandon Lake.

When he brought out Lake to sing their gospel single, the whole crowd sang along to the Christian hit.

This shocked Lake.

He posted a TikTok recap of the night and said,

“WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!!! 🤯🤯🤯” He continued, “I don’t even know how to process all that just went down. Something wild is happening I wish I could tell each of you about. God’s so kind. As unforgettable as the moments on stage were, I’m thankful mostly for all the profound convos backstage. Hoping we get the invite back after how you all responded to last night. That was wild!!!”

Not only did Jelly Roll sing his Christian hit, but he also shared the Gospel through the performance, which was documented by one TikTok account.

The video pointed out that Jelly Roll “made the whole set about Jesus.”

In an interview, Jelly Roll shared that he might not be what you expect a “Christian” to be, but he is “all about Jesus.”

“I might wear it a little different than other people; I might say things that other Christians don’t think are right to say, but ultimately, I have a heart for God and I have a heart for Jesus.”
