How is it that material from an unreleased Aaron Lewis album ended up shredded inside a box of Taylor Swift merch?

That’s the question many people are asking after coming across a confused Swift fan’s TikTok video. Christa Jo uploaded the video in question a week ago. It shows her opening a box of merch she ordered directly from Swift’s official website.

While digging through the box, she noticed a printed image and what appeared to be lyrics, both shredded and stuck to the packing paper.

As she pieced the pages together, she discovered what appeared to be the CD booklet from Aaron Lewis’ upcoming album, Give My Country Back.

“The album isn’t out yet, but I have the entire album booklet with the lyrics to all the songs,” she remarked. “What does this mean?”

Give My Country Back is scheduled for release on July 17th.

Christa Jo’s video garnered over 100,000 views and caught Lewis’ attention. He reshared a portion of the clip on social media, captioning it:

“Oh look, there’s my new album, that hasn’t even been released yet, shredded as packaging paper in Taylor Swift merch. Ain’t that some sh–.”

How Did Aaron Lewis’ Album Artwork End Up Shredded In A Taylor Swift Box?

Aaron Lewis doesn’t know how or why materials from his unreleased album ended up being shredded and packaged with Swift’s merch.

I haven’t even put the record out yet. It’s not like it’s old stuff that was just sitting around that they decided to make packing material out of. It’s my new record. I just don’t understand how something like that can happen,” Lewis told USA Today.

He added, “I hate to think it’s malicious, but at the same time, I don’t know that it’s not.

Christa Jo, the TikTok user who uploaded the video, shared a similar sentiment in a follow-up clip. She said:

“I do not think that Taylor Swift or her team planted this there on purpose…this was a warehouse error, but it’s an error that shouldn’t have happened.”

Intentional or not, Lewis doesn’t place any blame on Swift, personally, for what happened. The two singers have both been signed to Big Machine Records (Swift is now with Universal Music Group’s Republic Records), and have met in the past.

“We live in two very, very different worlds,” Lewis noted in his conversation with USA Today. “And she’s such a huge star that her world doesn’t intertwine with anyone’s worlds. I certainly wouldn’t be trying to bring her into this or blame her for anything. It just so happens that it was my record cover in her gift box for her fans.”

USA Today contacted Swift’s team for a comment, but did not receive a response.

Give My Country Back Debuts On July 17th

Amid this puzzling situation, Aaron Lewis wants everyone to know this isn’t a stunt to promote his new album.

As mentioned previously, Give My Country Back will be released on Friday, July 17th. The album is Lewis’ sixth solo country music project, following the previously successful albums The Road, Sinner, State I’m In, Frayed at Both Ends, and The Hill.

Give My Country Back boasts 10 songs, including the already-released title track and “The Door.” You can listen to both of those songs in the lyric videos below.

A press release about Give My Country Back describes the project as exploring several powerful themes, including “accountability, resilience, faith, patriotism, and personal growth.”

Speaking about the album, Lewis said:

“This is the perfect record for where I’m at right now. As you get older, you start realizing your time is coming to a close. I wasn’t living as cleanly as possible, so I quit drinking. I quit smoking cigarettes. I’ve done some kickboxing. I’m on a healthier routine, and I want to get better before I can’t. The realization that life is more than half over will get you to change, if you allow it. That’s where I’m at.”
