Big Sky drew in a nice number of viewers after its first season debuted in 2020. It remained a popular series, though its viewership dwindled during Season 3. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s seven-day Nielsen ratings indicated a 15% decrease in viewers, from 5.65 million viewers to 4.85 million.

Due to this decrease, ABC made the call to cancel Big Sky. The news of its cancellation was shared by The Hollywood Reporter on May 12.

The outlet reported that two other series were also nixed by ABC. They were Alaska Daily and The Company You Keep. Unlike Big Sky, both of these shows only had one season each.

ABC Unveils Fall Schedule & Shares Which Show Is Replacing Big Sky

A few days after news broke about Big Sky’s cancellation, ABC released its TV schedule for fall. The schedule listed the new and returning programs coming to the network in the approaching months.

The network also revealed the show that will serve as Big Sky‘s replacement. That show is the longstanding hidden camera series  What Would You Do?

What Would You Do? will now fill the 10 PM time slot on Wednesdays that Big Sky left vacant.

Other shows featured on ABC this fall include Dancing with the Stars, Celebrity Jeopardy, Bachelor in Paradise, and a new show called Golden Bachelor.

The network is relying heavily on unscripted series moving into its fall season. This is due to the Writers Guild of America’s strike, which affects scripted shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, The Connors, and The Good Doctor.

We’re sorry to hear that Big Sky will not be back this fall. Check out the video below to revisit one of McEntire’s scenes in the show.
