Alan Jackson and his wife, Denise, are high school sweethearts. They’ve been married since December 15, 1979, and share three daughters: Mattie, Ali, and Dani.

Denise has served as Alan’s muse many times. She and their marriage inspired several of his greatest songs, including “Remember When” and “I’d Love You All Over Again.”

Now, Alan is preparing to release another ode to Denise.

On Wednesday (June 24th), Alan announced that he recorded a cover of Orleans’ timeless love song, “Still the One.” The track, which was released in 1976, peaked at #5 on the Hot 100 chart.

Country music legend Bill Anderson famously covered the tune in 1977, and his rendition reached the 11th spot on the Hot Country Songs chart.

As you’d expect, Alan is bringing some country flair to his version of “Still the One” as well. You can hear a preview of his recording in the clip below.

As Alan explains at the start of the video, “Still the One” is special to him and Denise, since the Orleans’ original version was released the year they started dating, 1976. One of their earliest memories together was when Alan watched her practice one of her cheerleading routines to the song, which was wildly popular at the time. They were married three years later.

Alan’s take on “Still the One” will be released on Thursday, June 25th. Notably, the release comes just two days before he’s set to perform at the final concert of his career.

Alan Jackson’s Last Show Will Be On June 27th In Nashville

Alan Jackson announced in 2021 that he had been diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease. Otherwise known as CMT, it’s an incurable, degenerative nerve condition. In Alan’s case, he told TODAY that it affects his balance onstage and makes him generally “uncomfortable.”

After revealing his CMT diagnosis, Alan embarked on a multi-year “Last Call” tour, culminating in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 17th, 2025. But his final show, ever, has been scheduled for June 27th at Nashville’s Nissan Stadium.

In addition to Alan himself, the lineup features an all-star list of artists who are turning out to celebrate his illustrious career. Fans in attendance at the sold-out concert will get the chance to witness performances from George Strait, Lainey Wilson, Carrie Underwood, Riley Green, and more.

The concert is being filmed for a future NBC TV special, with the date to be announced.

Perhaps Alan will sing “Still the One” during the show since he’s releasing it right beforehand? We’ll have to wait and see!
