Carrie Underwood Pays Tribute To Brenda Lee With Performance During Las Vegas Residency
Carrie Underwood felt moved to honor Brenda Lee and her hit holiday song “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.” She covered the song during a December 2023 performance for her Reflection residency at Resorts World Las Vegas.
Underwood’s cover was timely. 2023 marked the 65th anniversary of when “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” was released. Lee was only 13 years old when she recorded the now-timeless tune.
“Rockin'” didn’t take off right away. It finally became a hit years after its initial release, and continued to re-enter the charts each holiday season.
Then, in 2023, the song finally reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for the first time. Lee’s reaction was priceless when she heard the news.

Brenda Lee Released Her First Music Video To Celebrate The 65th Anniversary of “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree”
Earlier in 2023, Lee released her first EVER music video to celebrate “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” and the 65th anniversary of its release. The fun music video also features two special guests, Trisha Yearwood and Tanya Tucker.
At the time of this writing, that video has over 11 million views on YouTube alone.

Underwood acknowledged the history behind “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” during her Reflections show in Las Vegas. She treated the audience to a cover of the song, and later shared a video of the performance on Facebook.
“Congratulations Brenda Lee on the 65th anniversary of #RockinAroundTheChristmasTree!” Underwood captioned the clip. “It was such a blast to perform your Christmas classic at my #REFLECTION show last night! #LasVegas.”
Underwood delivered the performance in a gorgeous purple gown. The stage was decorated to match with pink and purple holiday decor.
