Cody Johnson Is Crushing It
By now y’all are surely familiar with country music powerhouse Cody Johnson. The Texas native is known for hit songs such as “On My Way to You,” “‘Til You Can’t,” and “Human.”
Although Johnson has been in the business for some time, his popularity exploded in the past year. He was named one of CMT’s Artists of the Year, won the CMT Music Award for Male Video of the Year, and won two CMA Awards. To top it off, the songwriters behind “‘Til You Can’t” won the Grammy for Country Song of the Year.
In other words, Johnson is crushing it right now.
A New Duet Incoming
Johnson has worked with several superstar artists over the course of his career. He’s performed with Brooks & Dunn, Zac Brown Band, and Reba McEntire, just to name a few.
In December 2020, Johnson and McEntire released an official music video for their duet “Dear Rodeo.” As of this writing, that video has over 6.3 million views on YouTube.
Now, Johnson is gearing up to release another duet with another big name in country music.
During the nominee special for the 2023 CMT Music Awards, Johnson revealed he’s in the process of recording a new album. He also announced a new duet…with Carrie Underwood!
What We Know So Far
Johnson shared a few details about the duet with CMT’s Cody Alan. He and Underwood just recorded their duet the day before his interview.
The “Human” singer had tons of kind things to say about his new duet partner. “And so getting to know her, man, she is such a pro, and everybody that she surrounds herself with are all very professional as well,” he said.
One fan filmed Johnson’s interview when it aired on CMT. They shared they video on Twitter, writing, “Just casually watching the @cmt awards Nominee special and @codyjohnson just drops this news? A duet?! Did we hear right?”
