The Country Star Shares How His Faith Helped Him Through An 8-Day Coma And A Major Health Battle
“It’s been pretty profound, for sure. … It just makes you realize some of the things you think are important or that maybe you were chasing as a younger man or a younger person … they’re not really that important.” -Colt Ford (Fox News)
Jason Farris Brown, known professionally as Colt Ford, suffered a heart attack on April 4th, 2024.
After a performance in Arizona, the singer died twice.
He recounted the moment, saying, “I walked back to the bus, texted my fiancée, ‘Hi baby,’ and fell over dead. I died two times. Luckily, my band came out to check on me. … All of a sudden, that’s when all hell broke loose.”
He was rushed to a local hospital and then ended up in an 8-day coma.
The Singer Changed His Life After Near-Death Experience
The near-death experience was the wake-up call the singer needed to make a significant life change. In 2022, he was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called myasthenia gravis.
“Myasthenia gravis (MG): is a chronic autoimmune disorder that affects the neuromuscular junction, the point where nerves meet muscles. It causes muscle weakness.“
After his diagnosis, he gradually started making some lifestyle changes. However, it wasn’t until he experienced his heart attack that he truly began to take his health seriously.
The singer was at one point 350 pounds and has since gotten down to 190.
This music video, released nine years ago, shows his past weight. The song “Workin’ On” addresses PTSD, particularly in the armed forces.
He released the “Hell Out Of It” music video three days ago (February 22nd). In this music video, you can clearly see his drastic weight loss.

Colt Ford Credits God For His Recovery
After his 8-day coma, Colt Ford woke up and saw the heart attack as a sign from God.
“God just told me, I need to sit down and pay attention to what’s going on around me.”
The near-death experience led to a health and wellness journey and a newfound appreciation for life.
He shared with Fox News Digital that he got a second chance, which most people do not get.
In his own words, “And I think try to use it for … something as positive as I can … no matter what it is, I’m meant to have that second chance. That just doesn’t happen. You know? … It is such a gift. I realize how precious some things are now, and it makes me focus a little bit differently.”
After nearly a year of recovery, Colt Ford has recently returned to making music and showcases his health through a series of fun Instagram videos. Watch one of them below.
