Yellowstone Actors Have To Train Like Real Cowboys For Their Hit Roles

Taylor Sheridan cut no corners when making Yellowstone.

When making the hit television show, Sheridan required his actors to learn to be “real” cowboys. According to CBS Sunday Morning, Sheridan “demands authenticity from his actors, who attend a ‘cowboy boot camp’ at Sheridan’s ranch outside Dallas to learn how to ride a horse or rope cattle properly.”

Everything We Know About The “Yellowstone” Boot Camp

When asked why he holds these boot camps at his home, Sheridan said that it
“allows me to make a better product while I am filming it. I got happier actors; I got happier horses.”

The showrunner takes his boot camp very seriously, holding one every year before filming. Cole Hauser, who plays Rip Wheeler, said that he had him on “a different horse every day, a different saddle every day.”

Hauser continued, “To do this role requires serious saddle time,” which makes Sheridan’s assistance in training important not only for the show’s authenticity but also for everyone involved’s safety.
