Crowd Loses It When Ella Langley Plays Clip Of Matthew McConaughey’s Viral “Choosin’ Texas” Cover
on

Ella Langley‘s “Choosin’ Texas” is now one of the greatest hits in any genre of music…ever. Only seven songs have spent more than 16 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and “Choosin’ Texas” is one of them.
In fact, the track has now spent 17 non-consecutive weeks at the top, making it the fourth-best performing single of all time. It’s also the longest-running non-holiday #1 song from a female artist.
“Choosin’ Texas” has received even more attention lately following an unexpected performance from Matthew McConaughey. He’s been promoting his new movie, The Rivals of Amziah King, in which he plays a beekeeper and bluegrass musician.
During a recent visit to The Tonight Show, McConaughey joined host Jimmy Fallon to deliver a bluegrass twist on “Choosin’ Texas.” Their performance went viral, with the video generating millions of views across various social media platforms.

Langley saw the video of McConaughey’s performance on Instagram and commented, “Omg.” She also shared the clip on her Instagram Story, writing, “I may never recover from this.”
Making it clear how much she loved the cover, Langley gave it the ultimate shout-out during her show at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, on Thursday (August 13). She played a clip from the performance, and the crowd lost it when she did.
McConaughey is a native Texan, and he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. Needless to say, he’s quite beloved in the city (and the whole state, truly).
The audience’s cheering grew even more intense as Langley launched into her own performance of “Choosin’ Texas” after playing the clip of McConaughey’s cover. One attendee who filmed the whole thing said they “thought [their] phone mic was gonna explode” because the crowd was so loud.
