Gator Lunges At Hiker
on Sep 04, 2020
It’s rare that gator attacks happen in South California, but they do happen. Beaufort County has the state’s highest record of alligator attacks and so far that’s fourteen. It accounts for more than half of the attacks reported in the entire state, with one being fatal.
In August 2020 Chad Gerald was hiking in a region called Lowcountry. He lived through a scary experience when he encountered an alligator near Francis Marion National Forest and got too close trying to take a picture of it.
“When she came at me it was such a blur, it happened so quick and I just turned and ran. To be honest with you, I felt like I knew how close I could get and not be in danger but apparently .. I misjudged it a little bit.” Chad said, according to Myrtle Beach Online.
While running to escape the gator, Chad looked behind him and realized it wasn’t chasing him anymore. Later he looked back through his camera’s pictures and noticed he got the perfect moment the gator lunged at him. Take a look at the epic picture below.
