Kane Scores Multiple ACM Nods

The ACM announced the nominees for its annual awards ceremony on Thursday morning (April 13). One of the top nominees is Kane Brown. He scored nominations for Single of the Year, Visual Media of the Year, Music Event of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, and Entertainer of the Year.

This is Brown’s first time ever being nominated for Male Artist of the Year OR Entertainer of the Year. The latter award is the ACM’s top prize. In addition to Brown, Jason Aldean, Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Miranda Lambert, Morgan Wallen, and Luke Combs are nominated for the award.

The ACM actually changed the category to allow for more nominees. Historically, only five artists are nominated for Entertainer of the Year. This year, there are seven nominees.

Kane’s Nomination Made History

Brown’s Entertainer of the Year nomination also made ACM Awards history.

Prior to Brown, only one black or biracial artist had ever been nominated for the award. That artist was none other than the late Charley Pride.

Pride was first nominated for Entertainer of the Year at the ACM’s inaugural ceremony in 1970. Additionally, he was nominated in 1971 and 1972.

However, no other black or biracial artist has been nominated for Entertainer of the Year since 1972. That was over 50 years ago!

Brown, who is biracial, has therefore made history with his nomination.

A Great Time For Brown

On top of being nominated for five ACM Awards, Brown recently won big at the CMT Music Awards. He and his wife, Katelyn, won Video of the Year for “Thank God” during the ceremony.

The couple gave a grateful acceptance speech upon accepting the trophy. Watch it below.

“Thank God” is also nominated in multiple categories at the ACM Awards. Tune in on May 11 to see if the song and Brown win anything!
