Lee Greenwood Joins Lineup Of Performers Participating In Donald Trump’s Inauguration Festivities
The legendary Lee Greenwood is proud to be singing for Donald Trump at the festivities surrounding his upcoming inauguration.
Trump will be sworn into office as the 47th President of the United States on Monday, January 20th. He is only the second president to serve two non-consecutive terms, the first being Grover Cleveland.
While Inauguration Day is the 20th, Trump will be celebrated at various events over the coming days. Some of the reported performers participating in festivities surrounding the inauguration include Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Kid Rock.
The Village People, known for their timeless song “Y.M.C.A.,” will perform at Trump’s “Victory Rally” on Sunday, January 19th.
Country music superstar and American Idol judge Carrie Underwood will sing “America the Beautiful” during the swearing-in ceremony on January 20th. The Armed Forces Chorus and the United States Naval Academy Glee Club will accompany her.
Despite receiving some backlash for her decision to perform, Underwood said:
“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event. I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”
Lee Greenwood Has Performed For Trump Before
Lee Greenwood, who has performed his iconic song “God Bless the U.S.A.” at multiple past presidential inaugurations, will also perform at Trump’s inaugural celebrations.
Greenwood has performed for Trump at several events before, including his first inauguration in 2017. He later delivered a powerful performance of “God Bless the U.S.A.” at the Republican National Convention in July 2024.
In a passionate speech he shared before his performance, Greenwood said:
“We have believed for so long that God will make some changes in this country. And he’s about to make a change in the current administration and send them home.”
Additionally, Greenwood sang “God Bless the U.S.A.” when Trump returned to Butler, Pennslyvania, in October—where he had previously been the target of an assassination attempt on July 13th.
