Miranda Lambert Brings “Deeply Personal” Performance Of “Run” To ACM Awards

Miranda Lambert, the Academy of Country Music’s winningest artist, took the stage at Thursday night’s 60th ACM Awards to perform.
No other artist has won as many ACM Awards as Miranda Lambert. So it only made sense that she would be in attendance to perform at the Academy of Country Music’s milestone 60th awards show.
Over the course of her career, Lambert has received 75 ACM Award nominations and has earned 38 trophies. Among those trophies are 9 Female Artist of the Year titles and an Entertainer of the Year win (2022).
Miranda didn’t receive any nominations this year, but the 60th anniversary show wouldn’t have been complete without her. Lambert was among a star-studded list of performers who performed for the awards show in celebration of six decades of the ACM.

Brooks & Dunn, Cody Johnson, Wynonna, LeAnn Rimes, Blake Shelton, Alan Jackson, Clint Black, Chris Stapleton, Kelsea Ballerini, and more took a turn performing on the stage. Miranda Lambert’s performance was arguably one of the highlights of the night.
Lambert performed her latest single, “Run.”
Miranda Lambert waited a full decade before releasing “Run” in February. Fans have speculated that the song was written about her split from fellow country singer Blake Shelton. But Lambert hasn’t addressed the inspiration for the song, which tells of a woman who realizes her “relationship is over long before it officially ends and self-reflecting rather than blaming her partner.”
“Run” is the only track from her 10th studio album that was written solely by Lambert, who called it a “deeply personal” song. She released it at the encouragement of her close friends, including now-husband Brendan McLoughlin.
In an interview with Kalleigh Bannen, Miranda opened up about the song and revealed that she wasn’t ready to perform it until now.
“I wasn’t ever ready to perform it until now, and it’s also a good reminder to go dig through the catalogs, dig through the songs, because emotional songs—you don’t ever really grow out of them.” In this rare moment of vulnerability, the Texas native touched on the complexity of revisiting deeply personal material, especially when life’s emotional wounds are still fresh,” she said.
“That’s what songs are for. You may not be ready at that one time to sing about something really raw, or sing about alimony because you might be going through a divorce or whatever. It’s an admission of human error, too, you know? It’s an apology.”
Miranda Lambert celebrated the 20th anniversary of the release of her debut album with a special guest.
Miranda Lambert, the winningest artist in ACM Awards history, invited Ella Langley, this year’s most nominated artist, to join her on stage. The two performed Lambert’s 2005 hit and the title track from her debut album, “Kerosene.”
