Before she dropped this new track, Miranda had already shared three other songs from the album. The lead single “Wranglers” was quickly followed by “Dammit Randy.” Coinciding with the album’s announcement, she released the third single, “Alimony.”
And now, Miranda has given fans another taste of what’s to come from her new project. “No Man’s Land” is special because it’s all about love—with a unique twist.
In this song, Miranda sings about how she wants to be loved. She’s not looking for someone to control her or treat her like property. Instead, she wants a partner who will love her free spirit. Miranda wrote the song with her friend Luke Dick and revealed that it might just be one of her favorite songs she’s ever written.
Miranda explained in a statement, “When Luke sent me the initial idea, the lyrics just struck me — they were so beautiful, so raw. It felt like, ‘This is how I can explain it to the man who’s willing to love a girl like me — a free spirit, a wildflower, a wild card with a big heart and all the love to give.’ It’s that sentiment of ‘Love her but leave her wild,’ and it’s not really a warning, it’s just a, ‘Let me tell you what you’re getting into, and if you wanna jump off and take this ride with me, then let’s go.'”
The lyrics of the song truly capture Miranda’s message:
“So love her like a Mustang, like a wild thing, better let her run free /
If she wants to love ya, you let her love ya, you give her everything /
The fire in your chest, the very last breath of the boy who’s unravelin,’ the man who’s obsessed /
With the woman, the girl, the wide open world in your hands, she’s no man’s land.”
