Seven-Time ACM-Nominated Artist Morgan Wallen Passes On The Ceremony, Goes Golfing With Tom Brady Instead
Despite being nominated in multiple categories, Morgan Wallen skipped the 2025 ACM Awards to play golf with retired NFL star Tom Brady.
This year’s ACM Awards were held on Thursday, May 8, in Texas. Reba McEntire served as the host and also performed several times during the ceremony.
Ella Langley was the top nominee and biggest winner, earning five total awards out of eight nominations. Wallen was tied with Lainey Wilson and Cody Johnson for the second-most nominations, with a total of seven.
The “Superman” singer also earned a nod in the prestigious Entertainer of the Year category. He won the similarly named award at the CMA Awards in November 2024.
However, Wallen didn’t win any of the ACM categories in which he was nominated this year. Although if he had won an award, he wouldn’t have been present to accept it.
Fans noticed that Wallen was a no-show on the red carpet and in the audience at the event. They didn’t have to dive too deep to discover why he was absent.
Before the show, Wallen shared an image on his Instagram Story that shows him tossing a football with Tom Brady on a golf course. Wallen captioned the snapshot, “had a little mustard on it.”
Based on images Brady shared on his own Instagram Story, it seems the duo was in Northern Ireland.
This Isn’t The First Time Wallen Has Skipped A Major Awards Show
Wallen’s fans don’t always expect to see him at country music awards shows. He’s skipped several past ceremonies, including the 2024 CMA Awards, when he won Entertainer of the Year.
The “Smile” singer waited several months before finally acknowledging his win. When he did, he simply shared a photo of his trophy without additional context.
Wallen also didn’t attend the 2025 Grammy Awards despite scoring two nominations. Additionally, he was a no-show at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards, where he won the night’s top honor, the People’s Artist.
While he didn’t win any ACM Awards this year, Wallen has a lot to get excited about. He’s releasing his new album, I’m the Problem, on May 16. He’s also hosting his inaugural Sand in My Boots Festival from May 16 to May 18 in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
