PBS’s Tammy Wynette Tribute: Full Lineup, Date, & How To Watch

The First Lady of Country Music, Tammy Wynette, will be celebrated with a televised special featuring an all-star lineup of her country music friends.
Just a few days before the 28th anniversary of her passing, stars and fans gathered to pay homage to the late Tammy Wynette at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium. Wynette left a lasting impact on the genre and helped pave the way for future female artists.
Coming from humble beginnings, the Mississippi native went on to land 20 number-one singles and sell an estimated 30 million records worldwide. The special one-night-only event celebrated the “powerful legacy with performances that reflect both the timelessness of Tammy’s songs and the deep respect today’s artists hold for the trailblazing icon.”
The star-studded lineup for the night included Wynonna Judd, Ann Wilson, Terri Clark, Gretchen Wilson, Lorrie Morgan, K.T. Tunstall, The War and Treaty, Kimberly Perry, Brittney Spencer, Patty Griffin, Mandy Barnett, Jamie O’Neal, The Isaacs, Carter Faith, Valerie June, Katie Pruitt, Tami Neilson, Kaitlin Butts, Randy Houser, and more.
The show was recorded and crafted into a PBS television special, Tammy Wynette: Forever Yours. It is set to air on Friday, October 23 at 9/8c, and will also be available for streaming on the PBS app.
What To Expect From The Tammy Wynette Special On PBS
Country Rebel was fortunate to attend the taping in March 2026. As the audience filled the Ryman’s pews, the show opened with a piano overture by Jason Coleman, followed by a performance of Wynette’s first-ever number-one hit, “I Don’t Want To Play House,” by Kimberly Perry of The Band Perry.
Georgette Jones, the daughter of Tammy Wynette and George Jones, took the stage for a heartfelt performance of “He Loves Me All the Way.” She later returned to deliver an emotional original, “I Hope You Knew,” a touching tribute to her late mother that left many in the audience visibly moved.
While Terri Clark never had the chance to meet Wynette, she has long cited the country legend as one of her biggest musical influences. In her honor, Clark brought plenty of attitude to her performance of Wynette’s 1967 hit, “Your Good Girl’s Gonna Go Bad.”
Every night before rising star Carter Faith goes on stage to perform, she “prays to God and Tammy Wynette.” For the occasion, she wore an embellished white gown and sang “Another Lonely Song.”
Wynonna Judd has been a longtime admirer of Tammy Wynette’s music, even recording “Woman to Woman” for the 1998 tribute album Tammy Wynette Remembered. Nearly three decades later, Judd brought the song back to life from the Ryman stage, delivering a powerful rendition of the cautionary classic.

Later in the evening, Gretchen Wilson performed “Til I Get It Right,” Lorrie Morgan covered “You and Me,” The War and Treaty sang a duet of “Golden Ring,” and Ann Wilson of Heart performed “Stand By Your Man.”
