Savannah Guthrie Says “I Cry Every Morning” Four Months After Her Mom’s Disappearance
on Jun 08, 2026

On Monday (June 8), Savannah Guthrie spoke about her mom, Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing for almost four months, on Jenna & Sheinelle.
Jenna Bush Hager was joined by Savannah Guthrie, who was filling in for Sheinelle Jones during the Today Show’s Jenna & Sheinelle.
The two friends got emotional talking about Savannah’s return to work amid her stressful and emotional family situation.
Jenna said, “I’m just marveled as somebody who knows you and loves you. Your strength, you coming back here and leading this ship, which I know has not been easy, but here you are morning after morning, getting out of bed, spending the mornings with us. And I know so many of you at home feel the same way about you.”
Savannah replied, “First of all, I can’t really even look at you every day without crying. You are my best friend…. It’s really hard to come back, and I’ve been trying so hard to hold it together, and I promise I will. This show and this hour especially is about joy, but having you and all my [Today Show family]…when I see you in the morning, I know that you see me no matter what is going on. Sometimes it’s almost too much because I feel like to do the job, I gotta keep it together, pull it together. I’m happy to be back, it’s almost like the two hours of my day that…it’s not that I’m not thinking about [my mom’s disappearance], I am, but it’s something to do. It brings me a lot of joy to be with everybody, but it’s not easy. “
Savannah added that she had previously declined Bush Hager’s invitations to join her as a fill-in for Jones because she didn’t think she was ready to talk about her life, when the show is all about being open with the audience about their lives.
But, she knows this is what her mom would want her to do, to continue to bring joy to other people.
Although she admits to crying on her way to work every morning and on her way home, she tells her friend, “My mom would have said, ‘Honey, just keep going.'”
The Emmy Award-winning news anchor reiterated that her family still needs prayers for any information about her mother’s shocking disappearance.
Savannah And Her Family Are Still Making Desperate Pleas
On Sunday (June 7), Savanah shared an image on social media that read, “Oh my soul, mu soul, it cries out.”
She added her own text on top that said, “Bring her home.”

Nancy Guthrie Has Been Missing Since February 1, 2026
Savannah Guthrie remains at the center of a heartbreaking ordeal as the search for her mother, 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, continues more than four months after her disappearance from her Tucson-area home on February 1.
She was last seen by family on the evening of January 31st. Authorities believe Nancy was abducted, and the FBI is still investigating the case. Savannah and her family have repeatedly pleaded for information, offering a substantial reward for tips leading to Nancy’s recovery.
After taking more than two months away from NBC’s Today, Savannah returned to work in April, explaining that she wanted to honor the resilience her mother showed throughout her own life. Reflecting on Nancy raising three children after the death of Savannah’s father, she said, “I saw her grieve, I saw her world shatter. I saw it, and I saw her get up.” Savannah also vowed, “I won’t let sadness win. For her,” and later said, “My joy will be my protest.”
The Guthrie family is still looking for answers, and the family still has a reward of up to $1 million that will be paid only for recovery of Nancy Guthrie.
