Yellowstone

1883
Aired: December 19, 2021.
Seasons: 1, 1883 is a limited series, and there are no talks of a Season 2.

1883 is the origin story of the Dutton family from the hit series Yellowstone. Following James Dutton and his wife, Margaret, played by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, as they traverse the Oregon trail with their family in hopes of finding land. Their daughter Elsa, the narrator of 1883 and the Yellowstone universe, keeps her parents on their toes by being a reckless teenager in one of the United States’ most deadly crossings. Alongside a group of foreign travelers who know nothing about the Americas, the Dutton family must fight off starvation, bandits, and more!
This limited series answers the questions of how the family got the land, why Montana, and why they protect it so fiercely.

1923 follows the Dutton family’s next generation as they fight to protect their land. One of the key struggles in the Yellowstone series is that multiple interests want to take the illustrious land for themselves. In 1923, the audience sees that this struggle has been in the family for generations. Besides the battle for the land, the Duttons also faced prohibition, drought, and the early stages of the Great Depression.

Tulsa King follows a New York Mafia capo who served 25 years for a crime he did not commit to protect his Mafia family. When he got out of prison, he was not rewarded for his loyalty, but rather, he was exiled to Tulsa. Once he arrives, he goes back to his old ways and begins to build a mafia empire in Oklahoma.

Lioness
Aired: July 23, 2023.

Lioness is based on a real-life program that sends young, trained women into terrorist organizations under the guise of befriending the women. Their mission is to collect intel and arrange assassinations of the world’s top terrorists. The series follows Joe, whose job is to train, orchestrate, manage, and execute the missions, who struggles to balance the intensity of her job with her role as a wife and mother.

As of December 26th, 2024, there is no official confirmation of a season 3 of Lioness. However, fans are hopeful due to the show’s massive streaming numbers.

Landman
Aired: November 17, 2024.

Landman is Sheridan’s newest series, and it follows Tommy Norris, played by Billy Bob Thornton. The fast hit tells the story of Tommy’s life as an oil man’s fixer. The show follows him putting out fires figuratively and literally on a daily basis, from explosions to dealing with a dangerous drug cartel. The series also shares the intricate interworkings and drama of his family, who always seems to keep him on his toes.

The series has not officially been confirmed for season 2, but based on the show’s popularity, it seems likely.

Mayor of Kingstown
Aired: November 14, 2021.

The Mayor of Kingstown follows the McLusky family in Kingstown, Michigan. The fictional town has seven prisons within a ten-mile radius, and though it is a high-stakes entertaining drama, it also serves as a social commentary on the industrial prison system. The series mainly follows Mike McLusky, played by Jeremy Renner, as he navigates the unique town and is the power broker between police, criminals, inmates, prison guards, and politicians.

Variety confirmed that the Mayor of Kingstown will be renewed for season 4.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves
Aired: November 5, 2023.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves tells the story of the real historical figure Bass Reeves. Although the show took liberties with the storytelling, it shares the incredible true story of Reeves’ life. Bass Reeves was one the first Black deputy U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi River.
Key cast: David Oyelowo (Bass Reeves), Lauren E. Banks (Jennie Reeves), Demi Singleton (Sally Reeves), Barry Pepper (Esau Pierce), Donald Sutherland (Judge Isaac Parker).
The show is an anthology, so if the series were to continue, it would be about a different lawman than Bass Reeves.

The Last Cowboy
Aired: July 23, 2019.
Seasons: 5.

This is the only one of Sheridan’s television series that is Nonfiction. The reality series is filmed in a documentary style and follows some of the best Cowboys in the world. The series follows 16 skilled riders as they compete in the “Run for a Million” competition for a million-dollar prize.

The last episode of Season 5 was released on December 19th, and there is no confirmed season 6 yet.

What Is Next For Taylor Sheridan?
Since the wrapping of Yellowstone, Sheridan will have more time on his hands. With that he has announced a few new exciting shows.
The Madison will follow the McIntosh family, a New York family moving to the Madison River valley of central Montana. The show will star Michelle Pfeiffer, Matthew Fox, and more! It is slated to be released in late 2025.
Deadline has confirmed a Yellowstone spinoff starring Rip Wheeler and Beth Dutton. There is no more information about the series except that it is in the works.
Another exciting spinoff is 6666, which has been in the works for a while and will feature some of the beloved cast from Yellowstone. The series will be filmed on the 6666 Ranch in Texas, and there is currently no official release date.
in 2023, Sheridan announced a third prequel to Yellowstone, and it is titled 1944.
Alongside all these scripted shows, it is confirmed that Sheridan will be releasing a singing competition in partnership with Blake Shelton called The Road.
