The battles are fully underway on Season 30 of The Voice. The first battle episode aired on Monday, October 12th, featuring a pure country performance that left the coaches thoroughly entertained.

Caroline Alexis and Everett Bounds of Team Riley covered one of the most iconic duets in country music history. They sang Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty’s “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man.”

Viewers first met Caroline when she auditioned for The Voice with a cover of Rascal Flatts‘ “Take Me There.” Riley Green was the only coach who turned, which he was grateful for, because he felt he absolutely “needed” to have her on his team.

Like Caroline, Everett only got one coach to turn for his blind audition. That coach, of course, was Riley, who thought he “sounded great” singing  Eddie Rabbitt’s “Drivin’ My Life Away.”

Before we recap their battle on The Voice, revisit Caroline and Everett’s blind auditions in the videos below.

Who Did Riley Green Choose As The Winner In The Battle Between Caroline Alexis And Everett Bounds On The Voice?

When Caroline and Everett hit the stage for their battle, they were determined to put on a show. They fully embraced their respective characters and played off of each other well.

The coaches were smiling from ear to ear after the battle ended. Kelly Clarkson was the first to speak, telling the pair, “That was so fun! It just felt like a throwback…I loved it so much.”

Adam Levine spoke next, and he was clearly amused by what he just witnessed. Even though he didn’t feel qualified to comment on the performance on a technical level, he “really enjoyed it.”

Adam said he was leaning toward Everett, expressing his belief that he had improved since his audition.

But what did Riley Green have to say? He noted how the song is not known as an easy one to perform, but Caroline and Everett rose to the challenge. He remarked, “That was a lot of fun, y’all turned the place into a honky-tonk.”

He said the song was never meant to showcase powerful vocals, but is more about the “performance” and getting into character. He believed both Caroline and Everett pulled that off perfectly.

So who did Riley choose as the winner of the battle? After remarking how “tough” the decision was for him, he said Everett had won.

When explaining why he picked Everett, Riley said, “He’s so natural in that like, fun, up-tempo, traditional country song, and I think that’s something that we really need on my team.”

As things were wrapping up, Adam got out of his chair and walked toward Riley:

“I think I just fell in love with Everett,” he said as Riley chuckled.

We feel like it’s safe to assume that if Everett had been available to steal, Adam would have jumped at the opportunity!
