Scottish Country Singer And Actor Callum Kerr In Mourning Following The Tragic Deaths Of His Parents
Callum Kerr, a Scottish-born country artist and star of Netflix’s Virgin River and the country music drama Monarch, is mourning the tragic and “violent” deaths of his parents, Dawn and Andrew Searle.
The Scottish Sun reports that Callum’s mother, Dawn, and his stepfather, Andrew, were found deceased at their home in Villefranche-de-Rouergue, France, on Thursday (February 6). According to The Scottish Sun, local detectives initially believed the couple was killed in a burglary gone wrong.
However, as BBC reports, Villefranche-de-Rouergue mayor Jean-Sébastien Orcibal told French TV that their deaths were “clearly a homicide.” Despite this, the outlet says a criminal case has not been opened.
The Scottish Sun elaborates, reporting that investigators believe the couple may have been targeted by hitmen. Andrew previously worked as a financial investigator, and he tracked down money laundering schemes in the United Kingdom.
Nicolas Rigot-Muller, the Rodez prosecutor, is leading the charge on the investigation. The Scottish Sun quotes Rigot-Muller as saying that Dawn and Andrew “Both died a violent death.”
Speaking further to the AFP, Rigot-Muller said, “All leads remain under serious consideration” as the investigation is just getting started.
Callum Kerr Releases Statement About His Loss
Dawn and Andrew married in 2023. Callum walked his mother down the aisle and celebrated the occasion in a joyful Instagram post.
“Not many people can say they walked their own mother down the aisle,” Callum wrote. “What a pleasure!! I love you mum. Congrats to Dawn and Andy on their wonderful wedding day and here’s to a tremendous life together for the happy couple.”
Now, less than two years later, Callum Kerr is mourning his parents’ tragic deaths.
His team released a statement on his and his family’s behalf. The statement, which can be found on Callum’s Instagram page, reads:
“At this time, Callum Kerr and Amanda Kerr are grieving the loss of their mother, Dawn Searle (née Smith, Kerr), while Tom Searle and Ella Searle are mourning the loss of their father, Andrew Searle. No family member is available for media interviews or comments. We kindly request that their privacy be respected during this difficult period. We will provide updates where appropriate. Thank you for your understanding.”
