Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, and Travis Tritt are all country music superstars for their own reasons, but in 1992, they shared more in common than you may think.
In the legendary country scene of 1992, a stellar group of artists lit up the stage and swept the nominations at the 27th annual ACM (Academy of Country Music) awards. And Garth, Alan, Reba, Vince, and Travis snagged multiple nominations that night.
Over 30 years ago, Alan Jackson stood out at that evening’s event by winning Album of the Year and Single Record of the Year. Additionally, he received nominations for Entertainer of the Year and Top Male Vocalist.
Garth Brooks secured the Entertainer of the Year award and was honored as Top Male Vocalist.
Reba McEntire, who was recently announced as this year’s ACM awards host, also came out victorious as the Top Female Vocalist and took home the Video of the Year award during the awards show.
While they didn’t secure wins that year, Vince Gill earned nominations for Song of the Year and Top Male Vocalist, while Travis Tritt received acknowledgment in various categories, including Album of the Year, Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Video of the Year.
Before their ACM wins in 1992, each of these five country stars had already made their mark on country music history by becoming members of the Grand Ole Opry. Travis Tritt’s dream came true in 1992 when he joined the Opry family, while Reba had been captivating Opry audiences since her debut in 1977, achieving membership in 1986. Vince Gill and Alan Jackson were inducted in 1991, and Garth Brooks became a member in 1990.
It’s safe to say, that these five music sensations have solidified their status as some of the greatest stars in the history of country music.
