Adam Levine and Blake Shelton come from completely different musical worlds. Levine is the frontman of the pop-rock band Maroon 5, while Shelton is a country music superstar.

If it weren’t for The Voice, their paths may have never crossed. But after both agreed to be coaches on the show’s first season, an unlikely (and hysterical) friendship formed.

They became known for their back-and-forth banter, playful jabs, and intense rivalry. This resulted in some of the funniest moments in the show’s history. A few of those moments were captured in the compilation video below.

Shelton and Levine still poke fun at each other whenever the opportunity arises. There are sure to be several such opportunities on the next season of The Voice, which starts on September 21.

Levine has returned to coach Season 30 of The Voice alongside Queen Latifah, Kelly Clarkson, and Riley Green. They got to chatting backstage, and Levine recalled his hilarious first thought after meeting Shelton in 2011.

“When I first met Blake, it was at an NBC meeting, and it was the first meeting we all had, so it was us and a bunch of other people sitting around,” Levine detailed.

He continued to say, “And afterward, I was like, ‘That dude was awesome, who was that?'”

Someone told Levine, “That’s your co-star, Blake Shelton.” With a laugh, Levine said, “I was like, ‘No s—!‘”

Fans had some pretty comical responses to Levine’s story, and others expressed their desire to see a reunion between the two “frenemies.” The comments read:

“[I’m] sure Blake was wondering who you were too.”

“Blake was the best of all the coaches of the show. He should make a comeback for one season with Adam, that would be epic!!”

“Kelly had no words! Lol that’s hilarious.”

“Love you two !! Best [magical] team ! Opposites do attract !”

“That’s Funny Adam… Exactly what Blake would say.”
