Country singer Bailey Zimmerman is no longer facing criminal charges after an alleged rampage in a New Mexico hotel room resulted in over $16,000 worth of damage.

On Monday (June 22nd), TMZ reported that Zimmerman was facing two charges, a felony and a misdemeanor. Those charges were described as a “felony charge for criminal damage to property” and a “misdemeanor charge of falsely obtaining services.”

Zimmerman issued a statement addressing the situation the following day (June 23). Then, on Wednesday (June 24), it was announced that the charges against Zimmerman had been dropped.

KRQE, a news outlet in Albuquerque (where the hotel incident allegedly occurred), reports that the Bernalillo County District Attorney’s Office dismissed the case because “full restitution was made.”

Zimmerman’s lawyer provided the following statement to KRQE about this new development, telling the outlet:

Charges were dropped after Bailey took immediate responsibility for his mistake.  We are grateful to the Pueblo of Sandia and the District Attorney’s Office for this just and swift resolution.

What Was Bailey Zimmerman Accused Of Doing In New Mexico?

The alleged incident occurred at the Sandia Resort & Casino, where Zimmerman was staying and was also scheduled to perform on May 27. But Zimmerman canceled that show (and another scheduled for May 30), and issued a statement saying he wasn’t feeling well.

Then, on June 18, police in New Mexico filed paperwork to obtain an arrest warrant for Zimmerman. This news was discovered and reported on by TMZ and other outlets on June 22.

The Sandia Resort & Casino alleged that the “Rock and a Hard Place” singer had caused over $16,000 in damage to his hotel room during his stay. Items reportedly damaged included the TV, phone, coffee table, a wall, and some chairs. Two other chairs were listed as missing from the room.

The resort also accused Zimmerman of leaving a $400 alcohol tab unpaid.

Additionally, legal documents described Zimmerman as appearing intoxicated during his stay. A security guard reportedly claimed the singer was “stumbling, falling, and acting belligerently onstage for sound check” for his show at the resort’s amphitheater, which was eventually canceled.

The resort and the police reportedly attempted to contact Zimmerman about the damage to his room, but received no response. That’s why the arrest warrant was eventually issued, prompting Zimmerman to speak out.

Bailey Zimmerman Apologized To His Fans

Bailey Zimmerman broke his silence about the situation in a statement provided to PEOPLE and other outlets on June 23. He apologized to the Pueblo of Sandia and the resort, saying:

I never meant for any of this to come across as disrespectful. I am deeply sorry for my actions that transpired. I respect your community and the hospitality and appreciate the opportunity that was given to me to perform on Native Land. I take full accountability for everything that happened and I am sorry to anyone who feels hurt or disrespected.

He also spoke directly to his fans, telling them:

…I am so sorry, you deserved better from me. I understand that being a musician comes with big responsibilities, both on and off stage, and I know that I fell short that day. I am reflecting on the disappointment and concern that I caused.

Zimmerman ended his statement by saying he was taking the “legal matter” seriously. Based on what we know now, that meant taking “immediate responsibility for his mistake,” which led to all charges against him being dropped.

Bailey Zimmerman’s next performance is scheduled for tonight (June 25) at the Country Drive Music Festival in Ashland, Nebraska.
