A Proper Voice Farewell To Blake Shelton

After 23 seasons, Blake Shelton is leaving The Voice. He’s the only coach who’s remained with the show for its entirety.

Over those 23 seasons, Shelton has won the show more times than any other coach. He’s formed friendships with his fellow coaches such as Adam Levine, and it’s even how he met his wife, Gwen Stefani.

Shelton has also made a massive impact on the lives of the hundred of singers he’s coached on The Voice. Just two of those contestants are his Season 23 finalists, Grace West and NOIVAS.

As is typical for The Voice, Shelton performed a duet with each of his two finalists. NOIVAS had one song in mind he wanted to sing with his coach…”Home.”

“Home” was first recorded by Canadian singer Michael Buble. Shelton released a cover three years later, and his version was a #1 hit on the Hot Country Songs chart. It has been certified Platinum by the RIAA.

NOIVAS Chooses One Of Blake’s Songs To Perform With Him On The Voice Finale

NOIVAS wanted to sing “Home” because it reminds him of his family. They’ve been cheering him on while he’s been chasing his dreams on The Voice.

It was an emotional thing to watch NOIVAS sing “Home” with Shelton. The song is touching on its own, but it carried extra meaning on the night of the Season 23 finale.

The fact that Shelton is leaving The Voice was not lost on anyone as he sang, “I’ll be home tonight, I’m coming back home.”

Near the end of the song, NOIVAS stepped to the side and listened to his coach sing solo. He appeared teary eyed as Shelton sang the final notes. The two of them then shared a hug while the crowd cheered like wild.
