“Marshals” Star Addresses Fan Theories About A Kayce & Andrea Romance In Season 2

Marshals lead Luke Grimes has already confirmed that Kayce Dutton will be more open to the idea of finding love in the show’s second season. During Season 1, he was still deeply grieving the loss of his wife, Monica, who died off-screen following a battle with cancer.
“Some time has passed, and I think we have to put Kayce in some situations where you don’t blame him for wanting to open up that way,” Grimes told Entertainment Weekly.
But who will Kayce’s new love interest be? Could it be one of his Marshals teammates?

Fans of the series have theorized from the beginning that there may be a romance blossoming between Kayce and Andrea, who works alongside him in the U.S. Marshals. As the show nears its Season 2 premiere, one cast member has addressed the speculation about a love story between Kayce and Andrea.
Ash Santos, the actress who plays Andrea, told MovieWeb‘s Joe Deckelmeier she thinks “…fans will really love the journey of the friendship between Kayce and Dre, and like, where it’s going.”
When Deckelmeier noted that viewers have noticed the characters’ chemistry, Santos laughed for a long time before saying:
“They’re so alike, even though they’re kind of polar opposites. They’re very similar. I feel like Dre is…she kind of says the things that Kayce’s thinking but he doesn’t say, because he’s more introverted.”
Does Ash Santos Believe That Kayce And Andrea Could Be A Couple On Marshals?
After describing the dynamic between Kayce and Andrea, Santos said she understands why fans think they’d make a good couple.
“I do see it, you know,” she admitted. “They have this really wonderful friendship and connection. And I think when…two people like that are like, working together constantly and leaning on each other…”
She shared a tidbit about Season 2, saying it “opens the door” between the two characters. Andrea will be more vulnerable with Kayce than she was before, and he will be there to support her when she needs it.
Smiling, Santos said, “There’s a lot of layers [to their relationship], and it’s a lot of fun.”
