Bunnie Xo has finally opened up about her divorce.

On June 15, news broke that Bunnie and her husband, the singer-songwriter Jelly Roll, were splitting up. PEOPLE confirmed that Jelly (real name Jason DeFord) filed for divorce from Bunnie (real name Alisa DeFord), in Williamson County, Tennessee, on May 18.

The couple had been married for just shy of 10 years.

They don’t share any children; however, Bunnie helped raise Jelly’s now 18-year-old daughter, Bailee. Jelly also has a son from another prior relationship, named Noah.

The couple had discussed having a baby of their own, and Bunnie wrote in her 2026 memoir, Stripped Down, that they found a surrogate and hoped to welcome twins.

The last post Jelly and Bunnie Xo ever shared together was uploaded on May 3, just 15 days before Jelly filed for divorce. They posted a video with Bailee that showed her getting all dolled up for her senior prom, set to the tune of Reba McEntire‘s version of “Fancy.”

Bunnie also shared a video that included Jelly on May 10, just eight days before the divorce documents were filed.

Looking back, fans theorized that Bunnie had been hinting at her split before the news broke. She also shared a cryptic video two days after the world learned about the split, saying that a new episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast would be “coming,” seemingly with some sort of statement or explanation.

Bunnie dropped that podcast on Thursday evening (June 18th). The 54-minute video was simply titled “The Divorce.” It opens with a clip of her wiping tears from her eyes, saying, “I don’t know if I’m going to be able to get through this.”

A few minutes in, she said:

“I think the biggest thing here is everybody needs to understand why this is happening, where this is coming from, and what we’re doing moving forward, because that is the most important part here, is that I think everybody’s so hung up on our past and what we built together…but our future is so much more important. And being happy, and healthy, and best friends through this is probably, I think, the biggest gift that we could have given each other.”

After dismissing a few rumors, Bunnie said she’s not going to share every detail about her divorce. She added, “I’m not going to point fingers. I’m not going to say anything about J’s actions because I don’t feel like it’s the right time and I don’t feel like it’s my place.”

Bunnie shared that she still loves Jelly deeply, saying, “Even to this day, behind the scenes, your girl is still riding for that man. And I always will.” Then, she gave Jelly credit for helping her become the woman she is today.

Bunnie Xo Claims She & Jelly Roll Had An Argument Before He Filed For Divorce

Detailing some of the circumstances leading up to the divorce, Bunnie said she felt like she lost some of her “sparkle” over time. She described her struggles with IVF and her and Jelly’s loss of four embryos as something that contributed to a lot of stress and heartache, making her feel like a “shell” of herself.

She and Jelly were both on “hormones” at one point in their IVF journey, which contributed to them both feeling a bit off while their careers were simultaneously soaring to new heights. In other words, it sounds like a lot of things piled on top of them all at once.

Bunnie continued, saying on Mother’s Day, she and Jelly got into “a little bit of an argument.” She didn’t go into specifics about that argument, but she did say:

“I was so fed up and so tired that I just looked at him and I said, ‘Well, then file the f—— divorce papers.’ And in our relationship, that is the one cardinal thing that you don’t say, even though my husband has said it numerous times, ’cause he’s the runner. But when I say it, it really holds weight because I’m not the type of person who says what I don’t mean. And I ended up leaving. I packed a bag, and I left.”

She said they didn’t talk for “weeks” after that. Somewhere in the middle, he filed the divorce papers.

“Was this divorce mutual? No. It was not mutual,” Bunnie said. “Even though I told him to file the divorce papers, I was speaking out of anger and just frustration, but was it necessary for us to have a wake-up call and to actually start having these real conversations? Absolutely.”

After everything, Bunnie said she and Jelly “are ending this marriage on the best possible terms that you could ever have in a divorce.”

Bunnie Xo & Jelly Roll Share Where They Stand In Regard To Having A Baby

Then, Bunnie dropped a bombshell 29 minutes into the video, saying she and Jelly still plan to have a baby, “So, we have been the most unconventional couple that you guys have ever encountered,” she joked.

She also said she and Jelly had talked for a couple of hours earlier that day, and he knew she was sharing that podcast:

Like, this isn’t what you guys think this is,” Bunnie said. “Nobody cheated on the other person. It’s literally just, we served our purpose for each other.”
