American Idol Celebrates Iconic Moments From The Past
American Idol judge Carrie Underwood recently brought back her famous finale dress for a special episode of the show.
On Monday (April 28), American Idol celebrated “iconic Idol moments” with special performances from the Top 12 contestants. The singers all performed songs featured on the show in the past.
For example, Slater Nalley covered John Prine’s “Angel from Montgomery,” which Megan Danielle had previously performed during Season 21. As another example, country fan-favorite John Foster performed “I Told You So,” which Randy Travis sang with Carrie Underwood during a past season of Idol.
The night prior (Sunday, April 27), Underwood herself brought back an iconic Idol moment by covering Heart’s “Alone.” She previously performed the song during a standout moment on her season of American Idol in 2005.
As you likely know, Underwood eventually won her season of American Idol. She’s now one of the show’s most successful winners and has brought things full circle by returning to serve as a judge this season.
Season 23 has offered several flashback moments to Underwood’s past as an Idol contestant. However, one of the best throwbacks came through her choice of attire during the “iconic moments” night.
Carrie Underwood Rewears Her Famous Idol Finale Dress
Underwood brought back quite the blast from the past when she opted to wear her famous Idol finale dress on the April 28 episode. The dress is the same one she wore when she was crowned the winner of Idol‘s fourth season in 2005.

Underwood shared a fun video of herself on social media to fully showcase her bedazzled leopard print dress. She captioned the clip, “Same dress, different view.”
Fans who’ve followed Underwood from the beginning were thrilled to see her in her iconic Idol dress again. Some of the comments on her post included:
