Cody Johnson Announces Upcoming Album

On April 16th, Cody Johnson surprised fans by announcing the release date for his upcoming album. Titled Banks of the Trinity, the project is set to debut on June 26.

“When I heard the song ‘Banks Of The Trinity’ for the first time, it was like a portrait flashed in my head of memories I thought I’d forgotten. It took me straight back home to Sebastopol, Texas, where I grew up on the river,” Johnson said of the album.

Johnson selected a photo of Lawrence’s Grocery Store as the cover image for the album.

“This record is my way of going back to those dirt roads,” he said. “I can’t wait for you to come with me on that journey back.”

Johnson Drops “I Want You”

On April 17th, Johnson dropped, “I Want You,” the lead single from Banks of the Trinity. It’s a heartfelt country love song, built around sincere lyrics that highlight unwavering devotion.

Throughout the track, the narrator reassures his partner that his love doesn’t waver, standing by her through hard times and reminding her she’s wanted, even when she may not feel at her best.

Johnson Releases A “True” Country Song

On Friday (May 1), Johnson released another song from his new album, this one titled “Hello Lonesome.”

The CMA Male Vocalist of the Year said there’s “no agenda” to the new tune, but described it as just a “country song.”

“No agenda on this one,” he said on Instagram. “Just wanted y’all to hear it and think, that’s a damn country song. Hello Lonesome is out now. Let me know what y’all think.”

Coming off headline performances at RodeoHouston and Stagecoach, Johnson will join George Strait for a special in-the-round concert on Saturday (May 2).

Held in Clemson, South Carolina, the event will be the first concert at Memorial Stadium since Strait’s 1999 “Death Valley” show.
