For the special – and the recording – Johnson enlisted in the help of his friends Kevin Fowler and Roger Creager for the song “Feliz Navidad.”
Every performance was incredible, including “Christmas All Year Long.”
“Christmas All Year Long” is one of two original songs on the album, and therefore, in the CMT special. The song is about feeling grateful every day that isn’t Christmas, due to the love of his wife. In the song, he sings,
“‘Cause you’ve given me every wish
On this old cowboy’s list
I just walk around in a jolly old haze
All the other 364 days”
Before his performance, Johnson spoke about how much he loves Christmas music. He explained that he and his wife have a record player in the kitchen with a huge stack of Christmas vinyls next to it. A highlight for him, is teaching his daughters about the legends who came before him.
While their isn’t footage on social media or YouTube of this performance, you can watch the whole special here.
