Update On Country Artist Colt Ford Following His April 4th Heart Attack
The team for country artist Colt Ford has provided an update on the artist’s condition following the heart attack he suffered on April 4th.
According to Ford’s spokesperson, he suffered a heart attack following a show at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row in Gilbert, Arizona. Ford was subsequently admitted into the Intensive Care Unit at the Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona.
Ford has been open about health issues in the past. In 2023, he spoke with Taste of Country about an autoimmune disease he has called Myasthenia Gravis.
He said:
“[Myasthenia Gravis] affects the muscles in your face, your eyes, and your throat. It hadn’t really affected my throat, but it really affected my eye. I had no control over my right eye. It really messes with your vision. I could see perfectly out of either eye, but then I would look together and I’d see three of you and you would be melting together like a lava lamp.”
How Is Colt Doing Now?
Country Rebel reached out to Colt Ford’s team for an update on his current condition. A rep for Ford provided a brief statement.
“Ford remains in the ICU, with his condition steadily improving in a positive direction. At this time, his family is requesting privacy and appreciates your continued thoughts and prayers.”
Ford is known for co-writing the major country hit “Dirt Road Anthem” with Brantley Gilbert. Ford actually recorded and released the song first, before Jason Aldean turned it into a #1 single in 2011. He also wrote the PBR theme song, “Buck ’em.”
In 2011, Ford earned a nomination from the ACM for Vocal Event of the Year for his “Cold Beer” collaboration with Jamey Johnson. He’s also the only artist to ever have a #1 album on both the Top Country Albums and Top Rap Albums charts.
Colt Ford will certainly be in our thoughts and prayers. We’re wishing him a quick and complete recovery.
