Country Singer’s Original Song Fails To Impress 2 AGT Judges, Including Simon

Dani Kerr Aims For Spot In America’s Got Talent Finals With Performance Of Original Song “The Truth”
Country singer Dani Kerr earned some high praise from the judges when she auditioned for the 2023 season of America’s Got Talent. But her audition started with judge Simon Cowell interrupting her mid-performance to ask for a different song.
Cowell is infamous for never sugarcoating his comments to contestants on AGT. He lets everyone know what he’s thinking, and is not afraid to stop someone in the middle of an audition.
Kerr took on Cowell’s challenge, and performed an original song of hers titled “November.” She blew everyone away with her performance, including Cowell. He told her she had one of his “favorite” voices he heard on that season of AGT.
So What Did Simon Think Of Dani Kerr’s Performance In The Qualifiers?
Kerr advanced to the qualifiers, and performed again on Tuesday night’s (August 29) episode of AGT. She was one of 11 contestants competing for just two available spots in the finals.
Once again, Kerr performed an original song. Titled, “The Truth,” her performance won over judges Heidi Klum and Sofia Vergara. Klum complimented Kerr’s “unique, distinctive voice,” while Vergara said her “voice is perfect” and praised her for staying true to herself.
However, the performance failed to impress Cowell and Howie Mandel. Both of them liked Kerr’s audition performance of “November” much better.
“I love you, I love your voice,” Cowell said. Though he felt Kerr failed to give them a “moment” with her performance, and he wanted more from her.
Mandel agreed, saying Kerr’s audition was “far better.” He felt connected to that performance, but did not feel a connection to “The Truth”
The AGT crowd erupted into a chorus of boos, making it clear they did not support Cowell and Mandel’s comments.
Head below to watch Kerr’s qualifiers performance of “The Truth.” Find out tonight (August 30) if she makes it into the finals.
